Picked up a '96 Evans FET 500 JE yesterday. The cleanest warmest amp I heard. I'm a tube amp guy w/ a nice if not small collection of vintage stuff but this thing is sweet. Jazz and steel players evidently have known this for quite sometime. I'm a convert. |

Yep...Great little amps for clean jazz tones. What are you playing through it? |

Just a '73 Tele and my AM 50 right now. The guy I bought it from had a beautiful custom made carved archtop w/ floating pup. The name escapes me though. Denova??. A maker down in Florida. Anyway it just purred through the Evans. Along with his Gibby 400, G&L Bluesboy and a very nice Heritage hollow. I was sold after the first chord with the custom archtop. The amp is mint with cover and stand. 4 bills. Could not pass it up. Have to start saving some gig money again for the next toy. Maybe a big fatbodied Iber'...sweet. |

Boo, was it a 'DEVOE' archtop? If so, I am truly jealous! http://www.devoearchtop.com/ Bluesboys are GREAT guitars too! They sound like an ES335 in a Tele body. |

You are correct Sir! Devoe. Gorgeous guitar. Sound and vision. "Simply elegance" as he put it. No inlays in the board, black binding which looked great w/ the bright flamey top. Looked to have an ebony pickguard and tail piece. Controls were rollers on the 'neath side of the guard and the pup was an actual floater. No felt against the body. Secured to the fretboard tongue somehow. Maybe that's common in the archtop world. He custom ordered to his specs and it cost him 3 grand. I guess that's pretty cheap compared to some in this league. Tim, I thought the same thing when he plugged in the Bluesboy=335 land. They eat Fender American Fat Teles alive. A beautiful 3/burst finsh. Now I'm jonesing for a G&L...Damn it! |
