John, You may be best asking this question over at the Tokai registry. http://www.tokaiforum.com/index.php It's probably a Tokai from the 70's. Many Japanese original designs had the pad on the back of the guitar. I have a book, 'Bizarre Guitars' that has many original Japanese models as well as copies. It's a facinating browse only as it's printed in... Japanese of course. six |

That one pops up on ebay every now and then since a long time, the seller asks very optimistic prices for his other Tokais, too. I don't know though if or when that guitar was built by Tokai Gakki. |
