Hi: I need to send a guitar to England from the US. I'd appreciate any pointers on which service is best/cost effective (USPS/FEDEX, etc.). Thanks! |

EMS which is through the USPS. The only issue is insurance. You may have to pay more for shipping to be able to get higher amounts of insurance (ie: > $500). Check out all of the options. There are also size restrictions, however, you should be able to send a guitar w/ case inside a guitar box. Just check the measurements beforehand as there are many different sizes of guitar boxes and you don't want to pay for an 'oversized' package. btw...certain Fender boxes fit perfectly in certain Gibson boxes. If you can find the right combination, double-boxing is a great way to go. Also, put name, address & phone info for you & the recipient inside the box just in case something happens to the outside of the box. mk |

Tips to obtaining boxes is go to your local music shop and ask or just check the dumpster! |

Do not EVER ship a guitar FEDEX ! They will not cover concealed damage-even if its their fault. I have shipped well over 500 guitars in the past 5-6 years or so and the only broken ones (there were three) were all FEDEX and it took FOREVER to get the claims paid ! |
