If you have a picture of yourself playing your Ibanez, feel free to post it. (I reserve the right to remove anything I feel is offensive.) Check out the help pages on photos if needed. (www.phoenix-creative.com/IbanezCollectors/FAQMain.html) This is me playing at friend's going-away party. Another friend and I played a few songs together in front of a couple of hundred people. That's an '81 AS200 in my mits and you can see my '85 Artist Special Edition in the lower right background. Who's next? I am playing my 1980 Ibanez GB-10 hollowbody archtop guitar. This is the same guitar pictures in "Guitar Stores, Vol. 1" and in the "Vintage Guitar Price Guide" both books are published by Vintage Guitar Magazine! J I traded a guy a MINT 1963 BrownFace Fender Deluxe and $230.00 for that GB10 back in 1986/7. I desperately wanted a GB10 and could not find one until this one showed up and all I had was $230.00 cash. I was so desperate I got creative and parted with the MINT Brown Deluxe. This was long before EBAY and I believe most people were just learning about the internet. I feel that EBAY has taken much of the FUN out of finding Guitars! Don't misunderstand me ...EBAY is Wonderful! ... BUT........ My best guitar finds were through the local Wantads. I would talk with the seller on the phone then go to their place and talk with them face to face, look them in the eye, and then play their guitar. I remember many times I did not want to make their guitar sound to good in front of them because they might change their mind about selling to me or want to raise the price before I could finalize the deal. Then at other times if it felt right I would finalize the deal and then put on a mini concert for the seller. NOW that was FUN! Also, Michael Wright's book "Guitar Stories, Vol. 1" forever changed the Ibanez Guitar World. The second I saw the full page color picture of the natural blond "Randy Scruggs model 2671" I was hooked. I bought the first Randy Scruggs I came upon. But before that I new way before hand that Michael Wright was putting together the book I was out there buying up IBANEZ GUITARS. Don't get me wrong EBAY is a valuable instrument that has changed the whole world, NO that is surely taking over the WORLD. Even the foot traffic at Vintage Guitar Shows is being hit hard by many buyers and sellers preferring to stay home and shop on EBAY! NOTE: When was the last time any of you actually left your living room to go out and BUY an IBANEZ GUITAR? hum? Ever single purchase has been made from scouring the classified ads in the weekend paper and pawn shops. I just love going to peoples' houses and buying their guitars. I get great satisfaction from the fact that I am bringing these instruments "in from the cold" and giving them a good home. You can almost hear them sigh with delight when you polish the frets for the first time and oil the old fretboards. I can never hide it from my wife when I've adopted another - she can just see it on my face! I really enjoy the thrill of the hunt and strangely, I get a perverse kick out of passing on a guitar that has been modified. The seller can never understand. You know, the old "but the Gotohs are way better, and that Dimarzio rocks" response. I'm like "Yeah, but I don't want it without the original parts" and he says "Man, this ain't a vintage Fender" and I'm "Right. Its a vintage Ibanez". I just love that! Here's to you Harold!! Mark Guitaki (Guitaki) Posted on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 - 5:25 pm:    About buying over internet. I live in Finland, where old Ibanezes are even more rare than in the US. Still, I have bought only two guitars without seeing the guitar but in pictures. Both were models I had played before, so I knew what I was going to get. AM255, MC300 and RG140 I bought near where I live, and all of them were guitars I haven't tried earlier. Nowadays I feel I know the Ibanez models good enough to buy without trying out. If You really know what You want, You don't have to see it first. Then, there are these other brand "cheapos" that can also be astonishingly good, and they sure have to be tested first. My acoustic, my strats (through history), and an abused Fender were like that, I really wasn't going to buy one before I tried them out. What I am concerned about is the prices. Because of the internet, everyone can get the info on their guitar, and incredible deals don't happen anymore. Prices on guitars are developing quite solid standards. Shame, I think we all love to buy a guitar who's owner doesn't really know what he has. :o) -Aki. This was a laid back jam at my office. We played some jazz, blues, the Doobie Bros, Eagles and then drifted into acid funk (inspired by some CDs from Mickey's collection). It was a catered affair. Food was furnished by a local pizzeria, with libations courtesy of Mr. Samuel Addams and Mr. Heinekin. This is Mario. He's a great player and he loves jazz. He can figure out any song and then teach me what I need to know. The only payment he accepts is to play some of my Ibanezes. Can you tell he likes my GB10 and AS200. He made out last night. He got to take both home for a while. Mickey plays the bass (and drums, too). He has no formal training, but great ears. His CD collection ranges from Lee Ritenour to Parliment, AWB to Stanley Clarke and Jeff Beck, Bela Fleck to Cameo. He loves to play music! I am really leaning towards using the old stomp box's again. These processors are a pain in the arse to me. That guitar is one of my favorites. It really responds to my touch if you know what I mean. Every time I play it I get a great feeling from it. Also, I would have probably seen your band as I was at Westy in Simsbury from 76-79 but you don't look familiar - only Dead bands I caught back then were Creek and Timberwolf.
