I have thought Gibsons are very expensive http://muusikoiden.net/tori/nayta.php?id=169713 http://guitare.playback-europe.com/gibson-es_335_d ot_reissue_vintage_sunburst-9577.html ES-335 is not very much more expensive than JSM100. Juha |

No, that's the John Scoefield model. It's the successor of the AS200, with several ergonomic mods. The price of an AS200 has always been just a little cheaper than the Gibson ES-335. But when you bought an AS200 you got several luxury features such as tigerstripes, MOP/AB/MOP inlays, gold hardware, tri-sound electronics. That's not a copy, that's an upgrade! Ginger |

BTW, that's Scofield without the extra "e", but that typo was in so many guitar dealer catalogues, that nobody knows how to write his name anymore. It sticks to my memory, like Sebastian Coe. Nah, he deserves the extra e, as a matter of fact he deserves the whole alphabet. BTW, I discovered that the family name of Pete the Windmill from the Who is TownsHend and not TownsEnd. Doesn't matter what you Google, you'll find them both. Luckily they have official websites to check the spelling... Ginger |

While sitting on the loo (john for USA readers) reading the guitar advertorials of a big Dutch musical instrument discounter I found that the list price of a Iced Tea Gibson ES-335 Block IT (with block inlays) is 3,925 euros. (going price 3,199 euros). If you make a comparison with a DOT you should actually pick an AS180 (such as the one Tristan had), and the cheaper Korean AS80. Then you see the real price differences. Ginger: You've surpassed your own world record for "giving us too much information". I'm not referring to the prices, just the description of where your "library" is located. I hope that you don't telecommute from the "throne", too! |

I won't even ask where Ginger uses his laptop! Anyway, back or near the original topic...Yes, prices of Ibanez's high end Signature models and other MIJ Prestige instruments carry a premium price tag, closing in on a few Gibsons. However, I think we all will agree that the 'G' guitars are nice, but WAY overpriced. Even the best Ibanez are still a relative bargain, especially used. And out of the box, high end Ibanez have very, very few quality issues compared to Gibson USA or Custom Shop gits. I own both marques and put a GB or JSM up against anything Gibson puts out. No headstock envy here, just looking for a quality axe at a decent price. |

Actually it's not my library. It's more like a magazine tray. I get my advertorials double, since Feedback took over two instrument businesses that had me in their databases as a customer. One lands at my place the other at my dad's. When I visit him after volleyball, he puts it on top of my sports bag. He doesn't like my hobby at all. So it's one for the archives and one for the loo. The "throne" as you call it, is an excellent place to think things over. Sometimes I wish I had before posting some harsh message, but when I leave the desk, I risk that the kids erase something. Perhaps your idea is a solution. I guess that's why they call it "lap top". But my library won't fit, so I keep the dictionaries in my office and the catalogues and price lists in a book case in several magazine cassettes. Since my French teacher in High School, there is no such thing as too much information. He told us (13-14 years old boys and girls) what a support an intimate relationship could be during our studies and the highest degree of intimacy was enjoying each other's farts under the sheets. I never got over that one... How can I EVER beat that? I saw on Seinfield, several years ago, that there seems to be a taboo on reading books in "bathrooms", as some people call it. (I wonder where they wash themselves.) Since Seinfield is removed from youtube, all that's left is quotes: http://www.pkmeco.com/seinfeld/books.htm Ginger |

Oh yeah, there was something like an original topic. Eh... overpriced Gibsons. Tim's absolutely right. When the Gibson L-4CES was 6,950 guilders, the GB-10 was 2,495 guilders. That must have been about 1992 in Joep Egmond's Musica Music Center. The L-4CES never left the shop until they moved to another building. The guitars was sold then for only 3,500 guilders (now 1,600 euros) Ginger |

I don't know, for sure, but I think that my reading retention is enhanced, when my arse is suspended over water. Shoulda taken my SATs on the toilet. (I can't believe that & even gets censored here now. It's not like there's a bunch of kids in here. You gotta go 'Olde English' just to get your point across!) |
