just another survey, What is everyones favourite Ibanez model? And why? I have a few favourites.. 1 Artist AR3000/5000 because of the versatility of tone.. 2 Iceman PS10 because of the look of it (best looking non standard shaped guitar) 3 Artwood twin and Bob Weir models Who's next? |

Spiro: I like all of your choices. As far as guitars that I own, I'd go with: '82 AR300/'85 AR305SE these 2 are neck and neck for looks and playabilty - for a rock guitar. With double Tri-sounds, they are very versatile. AS200 for all around jazz/blues/rock. Not quite as sexy as the ARs, but all the MOP/abalone and flamey maple certainly spices things up nicely. J After these players, comes my '75? LP Professional. A stunner to look at. When you own a guitar with a vine on the fretboard, you just know everybody else is jealous.J As far as guitars I don't own: A new S Prestige S2540NT and a '93 George Benson Anniversary issue would be VERY nice! |

After looking over my collection I am forced to admit that I LOVE the Artist series...solid and semi-hollow. The proof is pictured below. From Left to right: '77 Ash Artist (2617), '85 Artist Special Edition (AR305AV), '82 AR300, '81 AS200, '79 AS200. |

drool drool drool (Homer Simpson style) John You are missing The most important one. AR5000 or AR3000 (the most versatile artist model ever I think it was way ahead of its time). My Artists have also kept my chiropractor in business do you find the same with your ones. Does your 2617 have abalonoid purfling on the body? Now I want an ash model toooo!!!! |

Spiro: You wanna trade something(s) in the picture for your AR5000? J Please check out the new converstation in the Contemporary section on the '81 AR5000. Yes, the 2617 has the abalone binding on top. It's a cool touch. If you want to see a very special Ash Artist, just wait a few days for me to finish retouching the photos. We've got another super rare guitar from the '70s coming up in the Guitar Tours gallery, also. The AR300 is noticeably heavier than the all mahogony 305. I wonder if it has more to do with the sustain block under the bridge on the '81 rather than the maple top. Someday I'll get a digital scale that is accurate and weigh them all. They are heavier than the rest of my guitars, that's for sure. |

I thought nothing would ever replace a Paul Stanley Iceman for me but I just bought a J Custom guitar and have never played anything like it. I have been playing Ibanez guitars for 21 years and have to say that the necks and frets are more "playable" on the new models.Just my opinion. |

Similair thing here Eric, was alway's me & my IC-400, for 15+ years. Then, I Ebayed a '81 set-neck Destroyer II, and now, my Iceman just sits. I love this guitar, perfectly balanced, and kick's bloody ass thru my Marshall. Not as warm as my Iceman when im clean, but overall crisper & cleaner. Just love it... Good Day's.........................Marcus p.s. You can view a pic of my '79 IC-400 at http://www.vintageibanez.com/iceman/images/iceman_fan1.jpg |

Nice collection JohnS!!! im not a retro guitar fan at all as far as playing goes, but i love the look of the artists!! i would buy an Artist LONG before a Les Paul or Fender!!! ....and the abilone/pearl inlays....whew!! how can ya not love em. im an old school 80;s metal man and my favs run along this line. heres my pick: AMERICAN MASTER, AMERICAN MASTER, AMERICAN MASTER (the good ones not the painted bodies) USA customs Prestige ltds jackson 'J' soloists neck thru only upper end jem model;BFP,LNG,90th the satrianis graphics are way cool but i dont have any use for a guitar with less than 24 frets and George washburn signatures with stephens extended cutaways, the 29 and 36 fret nech thru only. and of course AMERICAN MASTERS!!! duh!! God bless to all and !!!! PLAY LOUD!!!! vwall |

My choice is based on playability, durability and love. It's the original Rocket Roll V's.My personal favorite is the one dressed in black,it's been the ultimate workhorse for the 20 yrs. I've had it and it plays like nothing I've ever played before and the balance is perfect.I've had Gibsons that didn't feel right and no matter what I had done I couldn't get the same action. It just has that magic. It had the cherry finish when I got it just like her twin(hey,I was 15 and my friend was getting his car painted)and she has the "star" tuners, the fatter "nashville" style bridge and blank truss cover where the other one has plain tuners, thin bridge and logo cover. Both are pre-serial # bolt-ons.The red one just doesen't have the same feel but is still a great guitar. The only other that comes close is my '76 Destoyer. She was stolen in Fla.,US Air lost her for 2 weeks(she ended up in Tx.,we live in NY)and she's taken more falls than Tonya Harding but she's always right on the money. If I was president every home would have one. \image |

groovelady, Do "Keyword Search" for Roadstar. There's a lot of stuff on this site! (I just got 66 pages on a search). As for favorite model? Well... I play my "S" the most 'cause it's so versatile and comfy. Love the look, feel, and sounds of my Artists. And treasure my Roadstars! Kinda got a thing for the "X Series" too. Cheers Steve |

I've played a Musician MC400 for almost 20 years and never found a gutar to beat it....until I bought an Artist 2617. I now have a 2622 also and that's my favourite, cos I love the pre-amp boost. I doubt I'll ever find one to beat that! |

My favourite guitar changes from time to time... However, I hold a special place in my heart for solid Artists. Currently, my favourite guitar is my Tobacco sunburst A78 Randy Scruggs Professional with vines, that I recently was happy to come across and add to my collection. Its a great guitar tonewise, the body is quite thin, similar to my 2618-model Artist, which makes it lightweight, and the neckjoint that "melts" the neck into the body is really great aswell. Regards Jörgen |

Jorgen: Do you have a photo of that "neckjoint that "melts" the neck into the body" on your Scruggs? I'm *very* curious to see what it looks like. Thanks, JohnS |

Sorry John, I dont have a pic of the neckjoint. Those pics I sent you earlier was taken by the previous owner of the guitar. I dont own a digital camera myself yet. You can see what the neckjoint looks like though if you visit Mark Minariks webpage, since the neckjoint on my guitar looks exactly like Minariks tobacco sunburst Scruggs with vines at the bottom of the page. My guitar is identical to that one. This link leads directly to the Scruggs page: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/7871/pic.html Regards Jörgen |

A favourite Ibanez.. That might be the CN-250. I have only tried out the CN-200, but a trisound with that.. mmm! I don't yet have one, but I will, the minute someone sells one with a reasonable price. I will just have to manage with my AM255. Oh, AM300/400 is on the search too.. :o) Also, the AR-300 '81 I am going to recieve later this year is a target of love just by the pictures I have seen! Drool on this one..

'79 2619 (AR300) '78 IC200 I'd love to get my hands on an Artist semi from the late 70's or early 80's, as well as an IC400 from the same period, but the way the prices are going up, and my finances going down, I can only dream and make do with these two lovelies! |
