Hey everybody: As I mentioned in an earlier conversation, I am moving the Discussion Board to an "account only" system. that means that everyone must set up a user account before they can post messages or reply to others. It'll be simple to setup. Just send an email to account@ibanezcollectors.com with the following 1. preferred username and a second choice username 2. preferred password 3. real first and last name 4. a working email address where you can be reached. If your preferred username and password are not already reserved by another member (and not otherwise objectionable) you'll get an e-mail confirmation that your info has been added to the system and you'll be ready to participate. Have no fear, this info will not be sold or transferred to any other enterprise, web-related or not. It's strictly to monitor and maintain this discussion board. I plan on making the switch to a "secure" system on Sunday 3/18/2001. Don't get locked out, setup your account ASAP. Thanks for your continued support of Ibanez Collectors World. JohnS ICW |

Ok, I've put it off long enough. The registered membership has grown past 100, so it's time to allow only registered account holders to post messages (except in the Free Classifieds section). I will begin restricting message posting rights to non-registered accounts on a section by section basis. Because the sections at the top of the Topics List are most active, I'll start from the bottom of the Topic list. Note: If you have NOT been using your User name and password to post messages and have forgotten this information, please search your previous email messages for this information BEFORE writing to me to dig it up for you. I do NOT have immediate access to that information and it may take several days for me to ressurect it. Thanks for your continued support of Ibanez Collectors World. JohnS ICW |

Well, it took just over 3 months to double the number of registered members. Over the weekend we past the 200 mark. One of the cool things is the international perspective we have. Many of the new members are from various countries in Europe, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. In case your interested, here's a break down of visitors (not memebers), by country (domain actually), for the last 12 months.
Rank | Domain | Visitors | % | 1 | com (Commercial) | 43,946 | 60.6 | 2 | net (Network) | 14,103 | 19.5 | 3 | au (Australia) | 3,165 | 4.4 | 4 | nl (Netherlands) | 1,460 | 2.0 | 5 | ca (Canada) | 1,223 | 1.7 | 6 | de (Germany) | 1,108 | 1.5 | 7 | uk (United Kingdom) | 1,003 | 1.4 | 8 | se (Sweden) | 775 | 1.1 | 9 | us (United States) | 703 | 1.0 | 10 | fi (Finland) | 635 | 0.9 | 11 | id (Indonesia) | 387 | 0.5 | 12 | edu (Educational) | 381 | 0.5 | 13 | be (Belgium) | 351 | 0.5 | 14 | jp (Japan) | 332 | 0.5 | 15 | it (Italy) | 326 | 0.4 | 16 | fr (France) | 222 | 0.3 | 17 | nz (New Zealand) | 212 | 0.3 | 18 | es (Spain) | 183 | 0.3 | 19 | org (Non-Profit Orgs) | 165 | 0.2 | 20 | mx (Mexico) | 148 | 0.2 | It's not a totally accurate picture of breakdown by country, but it gives an idea of the international appeal of the site. Thanks to all who have been making ICW a worthwhile experience. JohnS ICW |

Woo hoo !! 200+ officially documented Ibanez "Lunatics". I am proud to be a member! ;-) Very interesting statistics, John. I believe a part of the international interest stems from the good reputation Ibanez guitars have outside the USA. Perhaps there is/was less bias against Japanese guitars outside the home turf of Gibson & Fender (and Martin & Gretch & Guild ect). Just my $.02 Cheers Steve |

NOTICE TO ALL: We are getting ready to switch hosting companies. This will mean that the ICW Discussion Board will be out of commission for a few hours, at most (we hope!). This will happen in the next day or so. In the transition, it's possible that some messages might get lost. I apologize in advance...sometimes a little inconvenience is the price of progress. After the change, we will have more room for expansion and the capabilities to add features in the future. Thanks for all the support! JohnS ICW |

To All: The ICW Discussion Board will be closed later this afternoon (3/2/05) to facilitate the move to another web hosting service. Hopefully, this will not take more than a few hours. But you never know with computers. So, please check back periodically to see when we're back up and running. Sorry for any inconvenience. JohnS ICW |

Mr roadstar, I'm sure it would be a big and very interesting discussion to define the fetures of this nice archtop. ...I mean ... maybe they should offer two models. One using the JP20 model with the pickup repositioned, and another one for the solid body lovers. |

Time for Ibanez to Officially acknowledge this forum and give it an Official seal or something.. And while they're at it how about starting to reissue much needed parts for the vintage Artist models (and others). They're a huge company with lots of money after all.....;) and the Japanese always appreciate loyal customers...er....right?? |

i was checking the old posts. just one year ago ICW had 1500 members; it means that over 1000 people have joined in the last 12 months, roughly 90 per month/3 newbies a day! could it be called a "burst"? it seems that interest for the ibanez brand is increasing dramatically, 4,5 times faster than in 2002. could it be a (maybe obvious) reason for the price inflation/speculation of the vintage ibanezes? |

"my love for ibanez guitars dates from the mid-eighties" Mine from '77 when I bought my first 2618 right off the rack on Kilburn High Road in London. I thought, 24 frets, that's cool.. My guitars had been stolen and I needed one in a hurry as we were off on tour the next day. I had a pair original Gibson PAFs I'd been saving for a burst, so I popped them in. That was one of the best sounding guitar I ever heard.} |

To All: If you haven't noticed yet, a new Topic has been added to the ICW Discussion Board. It's called Other Replicas. Because we've been getting many inquiries about non-Ibanez, Japanese-made guitars that are similar to Ibanez, I decided it was time to give them their own "home." So discussions about Antoria, Crestwood, CSL, Memphis, Penco, Ventura, and any other brand name, should be carried on in this new section. As a reminder, please review the Topics page and the descriptions of each section, so that you start your conversations in the correct Topic area. I find that I am moving more and more threads out of the Vintage & Custom section because they belong elsewhere. As always, thanks for your cooperation! JohnS SysOp

Hey John, How many members have we got now? Who holds the record for the most number of posts? Who is the earliest registered still contributing member (aside from your good self)? I remember you had some kind of crash or something in 2001 and we early members (from '98/'99) had to re-register. Do you have any access to site statistics from before that crash? Cheers, Mark |

Sorry Mark Been busy trying to get new internet servers and websites on-line. Tease: lots of new stuff coming! Ahhh, the truth is the Discussion Board software (that I decided on back in 1998) does not keep track of that info automatically. So, I'd have to go through the nearly 3500 users, one at a time, to figure out the answers to your questions. As long as we're on the subject, I am going to be moving the ICW site very, very soon and will have to shut down the Discussion Board for some hours to move it to the new hosting company. At that time, the software will stay the same. But in the future, we will be moving to a Board software that will be much more robust and provide lots of features, like tracking the statistics you asked for. However, there will be glitches and inconveniences, so please bear with us. The end result is intended to be great improvement. |

To All: We will be moving the ICW site to a new web-hosting company. Unfortunately, there is no way to accomplish this feat without some interruption in service. The first stage of the transfer you will notice is that the Discussion Board will be "locked". This means that you will be able to read existing messages, but you will NOT be able to "post" any messages. Stage two occurs while the site is locked: the entire contents of the board will be copied and then uploaded to the new server. This step will take an undetermined amount of hours. The next stage is to "pull the plug" on the old computer and "plug in" the new computer. This will result in the "lights going out" on the entire www.ibanezcollector.com domain for a period that may last an hour or two. We are thinking that we will start the process sometime between 12:00 and 2:00 am (EST) on Monday morning (2/12/07), as this is the least accessed time period. We are scheduling the complete "lights out" stage to start around 9:00 am (EST) Monday morning. As I said, we just don't know how long this stage will last. Please bear with the inconvenience and keep checking back every hour, or so. Thanks, JohnS SysOp

The newest one seems to be working out MUCH better. At first, you probably won't notice anything looking different. Keeping things running as usual, is our first goal. |

To All: We've made a few changes to the ICW Discussion Board in the last few days. Most notable is the new Topic called 50s and 60s World. As the name suggests, it is the place to discuss the really early Ibanez guitars. We’re very happy to have Hasy from the Ibanez Vintage Page as a moderator for this section. As a reminder, please review the Topics page and the descriptions of each section, so that you start your conversations in the correct Topic area. As always, thanks for your cooperation!

Munch: Earlier, you were asking about some site statistics. I just happened across a very early account creation date of: 9-13-1999, that was for username: Able3. Later, he would start another account under the username: Bluesfinger. |

John: Is there any way of enhancing the search capabilities? For example, if I'm looking for one of my postings, it would be nice to search for specific text in postings made by myself. mk |

MK: No on the enhanced search capabilities. The only thing that you can do is narrow searches for a Username to a specific section of the board (as opposed to "All Topics"). |

JohnS Congratulations and thanks for your work and your terrific ICW page. Without this site I wouldn´t know what to do to get info and share info about my (and our) Ibanez passion. I visit the ICW page at least 3 times a day: always curious about new messages and to see if I can help anybody out with questions about the 70´s copy era. Really feels like a kind and big family! Keep up the good work for many, many years! Cheers, Harry |

"Maybe we should do something cool for number 5000?" Johns How about a special ICW T-Shirt we can purchase noting the '5000 members and growing' and a picture of the new AR5000RE on it? or the T-shirt can say...I'm not old, I'm a reissue or vintage or... |

How about 5000 members - 50000+ Ibanez guitars! (That is a very conservative estimate based on discussions in this forum that include how many guitars many of you own!) |

John! Congratulations! Your work on this site is terrific! Hope that you will go on for many, many years. Guitartim: great idea! What about a combination of both: the slogan "I´m not old, I´m vintage" combined with a picture of the AR5000. Kind greetz, Harry |

5000...It won't be long before you hit it John. Apart from finding out more about Ibanez guitars, I've had hours of fun and gut busting laughs being a member of this forum. A special thanks to John, a big thanks to all contributing members and a huge thanks to all the guys frequenting this site who have helped me out one way or another since I joined up. six |

John... you rock! Congrats, it's certainly impressive. Amazing how so many decent guys wound up on this site. This site has helped so many people in so many ways. My suggestion for 5000... throw a party at Hoshino in Pa. |
