Hi John and all others, Its been quite some time since I've visited these hallowed pages. Have had a change in circumstances and a computer is no longer a daily companion. Anyway, I thought you might like to know that I have added a new Gretsch to my collection. Its a 6118 Duojet, the same as George Harrison and Cliff Gallup made famous. Its made in Japan at the Terada factory. Does anyone know anything about Terada's background and other brands they have made?? I know Gretsch chose Terada due to their demonstrated track record in building hollow bodies. All modern Gretsches (since 1989) have been made in Japan. That is, I feel, an endorsement of Japanese quality of the highest order. So , I'll try to peek in here once in a while, and hope to get a computer up and running some time soon. Regards, Mark |

Mark, Ibanez used the Terada factory sparingly in the late eighties and early nineties. The serial number designator is the letter "H". My AM300 has an H90**** serial number. Cheers Steve |

Hi Steve, I always thought the H serial number represented the Hoshino factory. Is Terada actually Hoshino under a different name? Reagards, Mark |

Mark, The info I have comes from Jim Donahue (JD). I swapped a couple e-mails with him about the different factories Ibanez used. Here is what he provided; F = Fuji Gen Gakki - Japan H = Teradda - Japan I = Iida - Japan C = Cort - Korea P = “ “ - Korea S = Samick - Korea I always assumed the Fuji Gen Gakki factory was the one referred to as "Hoshino". Perhaps somebody else can shed light here? Cheers Steve |
