Author Message Mr_Roadstar (Mr_Roadstar) Posted on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 - 1:45 pm:    I thought it might be fun to share some of our more humorous experiences with each other. I'll start... Last Saturday my bluegrass band had a gig at a little country cafe. As I was gathering up my gear, I decided I'd take my Roadstar RG440, "Chiquita" (named that because the pearl white has aged to a soft banana yellow). Since I always take a back up, I also grabbed one of my RG420's, "Lucy". For months now, I had jokingly threatened the other band members with using "Lucy" at a gig. Ya see, "Lucy" has a Cherry Ice finish. That's Pearl Pink to most folks. Not exactly the kind of thing you expect to see in a bluegrass group. She screams, "'80's Hair Band"! So, 3 songs into the first set, "Chiquita" pops her B string. I made the fast swap to "Lucy", just in time to hit the last chord in the song. Frank, (our lead singer) turns to me to see what the problem was. The look on his face was a Kodak moment! Several folks in the audience also had rather stunned expressions. I bought my MC300 just as we were heading to another town to make a gig. I had tried it earlier by the seller, and I couldn't sleep after it. So, it was the first time with that guitar, and I didn't really know what she (Matleena) were capable of doing. We were playing a humorously long version on a known adult ballad with lots and lots of solos. A few of them were mine, and after I had played two verses of my first tragic solo on that song, I bent the last note up to the high f# on the b-string. Suddenly I realized; this note will not die. I was standing just next to my Carvin combo, and had my H&K Tube Factor on full overdrive, as usual. The note did not die, and I continued another 1 and a half verses with that one single sustaining note! At that point even I was laughing, so I had to take it down. And it landed nicely for the last half verse.. :o) That was an incredible feeling! I made "the Moores!" ;o) -Aki.
