The original "show us your collection" discussion has gotten quite long, more time-consuming to load and some picture links are damaged. So, I decided to start a new thread and start by uploading pictures of my Ibanez collection, as of July 13, 2002. To my horror, I couldn't figure a way to get them all in one group photo. So I split them up into three. The first is the Semi Acoustic and Acoustic group: From left to right: '83 NW40, '79 GB10, '88 AF200, '79 AS200, '81 AS200, '80 AS400, '82 AM205, '75 645. The next is the Solid body group: From left to right: '77 Challenger, '77 2617, '78 2618, '78 2622, '82 AR300, '85 AR305SE. Last is the Miscellaneous group: From left to right: Preserial 2405, preserial 2671, '76 2671. |

Unbelievable collection! The collection of semihollows is great! I own an early AS200 with super 70's. How does your 79 sound in comparison to the 81? Is there any noticeable sustain and sound difference with the neck thru desiagn of the AS400 vs standard AS200? jerry |

Hi John Nice harem .... a word of warning though , the rubber on those stands will remove finish from your guitars . How do I know ... my 1962 Harmony still shows the scars Ric |

Ric, Does it really? I think those stands are the most common these days. I have a couple myself. Thanks for the warning. John M |

Hi JohnS and others! John, great gathering of beauties you have there! I noticed that your Custom Agent (2405) has no "Ibanez Custom" inscripted in the scratch plate (Or doesn't the picture reveal this?). Do you know if this was stock and when Ibanez changed from inscripted to non-inscripted or vice versa? Or were both versions used at the same time? Greetz, Harry |

My two Custom Agents...a pre-serial, and a ´78 both have script scratchplates. So my guesses are that both versions were used pretty much until the production of Custom Agents ended in ´79. /Jörgen |

Harry/Jorgen: According to Michael Wright's book (Vol. I), both were used. I have no reason to believe that mine is not original. |

Hi, I'll post pics of my collection soon, just waiting for this one to come from Germany. Any idea what model it is, I don't know the serial no. It looks like a 2618, but are those super 58's? Does that mean it's early '80's maybe an AR200 or something? Tim

Tim, I see you bought the Artist from Ebay.de. Congratulations, hope you can find the tuner... Since the serialnumber is from 10/1980 (the seller told me :-)), and because the guitar has 22 frets, I think it is a AR100. The 2618 & 2619 had 24 frets. I have a AR200, it has one tri-sound switch. It is from 9/79 and has 22 frets also. The pick-ups on your guitar puzzle me also. Cannot help you with that. I thought they were V2 without caps. Maybe changed on this guitar...:-(. My AR200 has Super 80's. Awesome guitars, enjoy! See also this link on ICW: http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/discus/messages/12/2531.html I hope we don't ruin JohnS his idea of making a new thread with only pics of collections... |

Thanks, I think because it is late '80 it looks more like the Artists in the 81 catalog. It seems to have the quik change 2 tailpiece and the neck seems to fit deeper into the body. Also they do look like super 58 pick-ups, were these on all Artists in 81? |

Musash... the pick-ups are one V2 and one Tokai. Both pushed into gold covers. Restoration in progress, pics in the next few days... Tim |

Hi - Compared to what has been displayed in this topic, mine is a fairly small collection, but here goes. Left to right, 1982 SB70*, 1978 MC-500, 1979 MC-300. In addition to these, I also own a 1992 Rickenbacker 360/6, and a 1971 Martin D-28. * Feel free to correct the model name - this guitar has no model marking whatsoever, and I've never found it in a catalog. On the headstock there is a decal that says Custom Made. Someone ID'd it as SB70, said that it was a parts guitar made from a Studio body & a Roadstar neck. I have seen several others listed for sale on Ebay, & all were from 1982. Bob C |

| Posted on Monday, August 19, 2002 - 5:55 pm: | |
Hi Tim - The hardware on the MC-500 is nearly perfect, the MC-300 is quite pitted, though. I bought a cloud and tailpiece from Orval on Ebay, but I haven't been able to locate a bridge. I have noticed the discussions on replating, but that seems to be a bit of trouble, and probably some expense as well. I would imagine that the bridge requires some preparation prior to replating. Greetings from Jakarta, Indonesia. There are at least two Ibanez fans out here. My friend Dave comes around to my place once in a while and the last time, he brought his newly acquired JSM model (which is simply superb) and some Artist models. Here is pic of him with some of our Ibanez guitars. On the left, three 2617s and on the right (hardly visible), three AR300s and another Artist resting on the sofa. Regards, Chin Hon

Hi Sixvsix! After all these years of survey this is the first time I ever come across a 2464 in sunburst finish. Actually, I was not able to find this version in any catalogue or price list. The model number 2464 shows up, but always in natural finish. It is not even mentioned that the model was available in sunburst too. But hey, we're doing research on Ibanez and that means you allways come across suprises. That's what makes it exiting. Could I get your permission to place this picture in the book I'm working on? I've just snapped digital pics of my (small) collection of "Players" (better pics, but I hate the glare). I admire all of you who have kept your Ibanez's original, but I always strive to make anything I have a bit better (there isn't a guitar on this planet that I'd not WANT to tinker with if I owned it). Hopefully, you can forgive my tinkering...3 out of 4 could be returned to stock if desired. Still, I think they're quite beautiful the way they are...and they all play and sound better than...well, you know...they're Ibanez, aren't they?

Gadzooks – I hate some of you guys. Some of you are either rich, single or both. My Guitar collection only runs to 5. An Ibanez Blazer, an Ibanez John Pearce Acoustic, and old Ibanez Classical (no idea what model – it’s cheap’n’nasty with a metal reinforced neck, an 71 Ibanez Les Paul Custom copy made by Gibson and a ratty old Hungarian acoustic. Ah well……..if the numbers come up tonight! |

Hey, great Roadstar you got there! The first guitar I bought myself was one exactly like that.Modded it heavily myself, not always that succesful. Sold it to help my father fund my Gibbo LP in 1991 and now I only got the bridge pup left. Always regreted it since the thrill of owning a real LP was over........
