thought i would just throw this out.... I have been using a digitech rp200 multi-effects setup for playin around for a year or two now and i have just never been satisfied with it's dull, somewhat limited use.....was just wondering if anyone else has made any good use of these things. |

Techie: Hey, the RP200 only has 2 foot switches to content with. My RP7 has 6! And you have to be a ballerina to navigate through more than 1 or 2 banks! If I've had one beer too many, I could fall over backwards trying to switch effects. I have a love hate relationship with my Digi RP7. It's capable of so much, but it's not easy getting it out of the machine. Especially in a performance situation. The variable initial volumes for each effect drives me batty. I'm constantly pushing switches and getting feedback or blarring volumes. Maybe mine's broken, but the initial volume setting is honored immediately, regardless of what position the foot pedal is in. So, if I have the volume pedal in the off position and switch to another preset, why do I want it coming in at full volume until I move the volume pedal to calibrate it's position? That's retarded design. Yes, I've been through the foot pedal calibration thing dozens of times. The only solution I've found is to manually go in an change all the start volumes to very low values. OTOH, maybe I'm the one who's retarded and just need someone to tell me how to set it up more intelligently. I subscribed to the RP mailing list for a while, but found it more annoying than helpful. And getting info, answers or advice over on Digitech's website for the RP7 can be disappointing. I have a question about a 12 string patch shown in their library, on the board for exactly one month, with no response. Part of my mesage states that the advertised 12 string patch is a completely different patch. I would think that somebody at DigiTech would at least acknowledge the screwed up. Right now I use the RP7 for it's valve preamp (I go into the back of the amp, just using the 2x12 speakers) and stick with one bank of 4 effects for most playing situations. I have a TS9 Distortion and CryBaby Wah ahead of it. |

yeah i would think the six pedals could get to be a bit overwhelming. And the problem with the volume adjustment has been dually noted here though i only have a problem with it when i first hook it up....after you adjust it it stays constant as you switch through the presets. Every factory preset seems to have a dull sound and it's not from the equalizer settings, i still can't figure it out and i've had it for two years. I don't think it's my ax cause it sounds about the same on my buddie's kirk hammett. Oh well, i only paid about a hundred bucks for it, i primarily use it for the auto wah and coloring effects (flange, chorus....). I need to find a good variety of heavy distortions and a good wah pedal though, the pedal on this 200 is absolutely worthless. |

Techie: You know, I never thought that the pedal had to be calibrated EACH time I used the unit. I'll have to check that out. I played a small party this weekend and at the last moment had to pull the RP7 out of the rig. Talk about panic. I haven't used the amp and it's controls for nearly 2 years. Also had no simulated 12 string patch for my acoustic. The audience didn't know the difference, but it put a damper on my mood. |

i don't know what the deal is with my pedal, i think it was just poorly built. When i open it it doesn't do much untill i get it about halfway down then it just pretty much opens all at once. I've tried calibrating and i tried opening it up and messing with the magnet. it's just worthless. i need to get a good crybaby. |
