I remember visiting a site mentioned on ICW that had large, hi-res Ibanez catalog scans (full catalog page scans - and every page of the catalog). I can't seem to find that site. Any help or is it gone? |

Steve's got it. Thanks. I've been asked about scans from the 1983 catalog and ibanezrules.com doesn't go back that far. Anyone already scanned this catalog (and saved me the effort)? |

Hi All, I own a '84 Roadstar II bass. I would love to have some info on the instrument, but I understand that finding a catalog scan on '84 Roadstar II basses is not gonna be easy. A good suggestion, anyone? Hans |

I've begun scanning the '83 '84 RoadstarII/Artist and Full and Semi Acoustic Electric catalogs. The Roadstar/Artist catalog is done. Hollow Body is currently limited to the AS and AM line. The images are pretty large and clear enough to read the specs and text. Check them out at '83 '84 Catalog Scan Index P.S. I'm running out of web space on my account. Don't know how much more I'll be able to fit. The full size scans are averaging about 190k each. |

Hey Craig, Will your scans include any of the AE acoustics? Also, since I'm reading you're running out of webspace, I thought I'd drop just a bit of a plug for my hosting service (no I don't get a commission for plugging them -- I use Top Class Host (http://topclasshost.com). For $6/mo., I get 1 gig of storage, 10 gigs of bandwidth, PHP4, MySQL, Perl, CGI, Webmail and 200 email accounts, a couple of chat boards, and even the YaBBS bulleting board system. This is the best value I've found, so naturally I spread the word. The servers are physically located in England -- which I haven't found to be a problem, living in Texas. I've found that, when I do have a question about my service or how to do something, I receive a prompt and knowledgeable reply. Best, Michael |

I do have the 1985 and 1986 catalogs. And most labeled '82, '83, and '84 (as opposed to the ones I'm working on which are labeled '83 '84 (two year catalogs?). I'd like to scan everything I've got, but it does take time. As far as space is concerned, I'll look into the price of more storage or maybe adding a second ISP. Don't want to leave my current ISP since my email and Guitar Tech site have been there for so many years. Wouldn't want either to just disappear... Other alternatives would be to make the images smaller (and the text no longer readable). Any comments on this? Or, if someone with gigaspace would want to grab my entire directory and keep it on their site, I'd be OK with that, too. Any volunteers? As for now, I'll continue with '83 '84 electrics. If anyone has a specific model from '78 or from '82 through '86 they want me to scan, I'll scan it and post a link to that image for you. OK? |

If you have anything on the AE 405 TV -- or perhaps something close to it -- from 1984 -- yes, I'd like to read what you have. How much space -- megabytes-wise -- are your scans taking up? Any idea of the number of hits/bandwidth per month? I might be willing to host some/all of them at one of my sites. I have two domains at topclasshost.com, each of which can have up to 1 gig of storage and 10 gigs of bandwidth per month, and I'm probably going to add another. Just in case you misunderstood what I wrote earlier about my hosting service, allow me to clarify. Like you, I have an email address that I've had for years, and I have no interest in changing it, so I'm staying with my ISP for the indefinite future. Like yours I'm sure, my ISP provides me with a small amount of web space for my own personal website, and for a rather stiff premium, will provide me with my own dedicated space using my own domain. No thanks on the latter -- it's usually much cheaper to go with an independent hosting service. Which is what I do, and which, I feel reasonably sure, is what Johns does here at ibanezcollectors.com. In addition to the free webspace that my ISP provides me, I also rent server space from a hosting service, where my own domains reside -- http://mcbrooms.com and http://dinohunter.com -- well, actually the latter is a domain that I picked up for my daughter, and she's not doing much with it yet, but give her time, she's only 12 Anyway, for $6 a month and around $30 to register a new domain name, I'm planning to add another domain to my list, mostly just because my name is available and I want it. Anyway, sorry to be prodding a dead horse if you already know all this. Best, Michael |

Your advice about hosting services is appreciated, Michael. I'm sure that's what some of my friends in the music recording business around here have done. I'll definitely look into it. I currently have 25 full size scans taking up 4.2 Meg. This shares the same space as my non-profit guitar tech site with a total of 10 Meg allowed. I can bump that up to 25 Meg for a few bucks more a month from my ISP, but like you mentioned, they're already charging a stiff monthly fee. As for the AE line....looked through all of my catalogs and I don't have anything on the AE acoustics from any year. Major bummer. |

With regard to the AE line of acoustics, I find their obscurity rather puzzling. I'm assuming that "AE" designates 'acoustic electric'. From the meager data I've been able to find so far, they appear to have been a well made line of models. I missed out on an AE300 on eBay -- a dreadnaught-sized guitar with a cutaway, and was the successful bidder on the AE405TV, which I mentioned above. In retrospect, I'm glad I missed out on the AE300, since the 405 is more to my liking. Can't wait for it to arrive, which will probably be toward the end of this week, first part of next. I'll be sure to post a report on it with photos once it gets here. Best, Michael |

I have five Roadstars, four of them what Mr. Roadstar was kind enough to inform me are RS335. (the other is an RS1000). Looking at the scans of the 1983 catalogue, I see no pictures of this model (Humbuck at the bridge, single coil at the neck, rosewood fingerboard). Now I own four of them so I know I'm not nuts...but where is all the documentation on these things? |

I remember seeing these models in magazine ads, but as far as I know, they weren't part of the original '83 Roadstar II catalogs. They may have been a mid-year addition. Can anyone corfirm this, or has anyone seen a catalog (or supplement) with these models? |

Yes mine were made from June onward, I believe. It is a pickup configuration that really fits my needs. It's a great guitar for fat heavy sounds. Unbelieveable. I found I had replace the Super 58's with high output ceramics, though. The single coils, however, are warm and marvelous. Positively huge pole pieces on those things. In my opinion they were the best Roadstars made, but it's just really weird there is next to nothing on them. |

The RS335 never made into any catalog that I am aware of. The only literature I have on that model is a from magazine ads. They were released in mid 1983. Cheers Steve |

Well, there you have it, folks. I'd be interested to see those magazine ads. So I would venture this makes the RS335 somewhat collectable, then. Well, to me anyway ;) Any idea when manufacture ceased on this model, and where I could find out any more about it? |

My scans of the '83 line previously mentioned are going through a re-organizing in my web space. If you don't find them, give me a days or two. Don't have any real info on the RS335, but I did scan an ad for you... RS335 AD P.S., although they're relatively plain, there is something real cool about these RS335s. I remember wanting one pretty badly in 1984. |

More scans added. Complete '83'84 Thin and Semi-Hollow Acoustic Electric catalog. Also added the '83 X-Series (Destroyer and RocketRoll). Also a visual link to the RS335 AD. Now I'm really out of web space. Hope to resolve that issue soon. Ibanez '83 '84 Catalog Scans |

NEW WEBSITE. My scans are now at a new URL. I have all of the Electric guitar catalogs I own out there from 1983 through 1984. I'm working on 1982. From there, I will work on 1985 and 1986, as well as acoustic guitar catalogs. After that, I have big gaps in catalogs. Going backward, all I have is 1978. Going forward, we're into the '90's. Hope you enjoy the catalogs online !! Ibanez Catalog Scans |

'86 Catalog Scans. Just finished scanning the 1986 Electric Guitar and Bass catalog for anyone interested. Big catalog - nice photography. I've created a page with thumbnail links to high resolution scans of every page. Here's a link to my catalog index - for easy access to everything I've scanned so far... Ibanez Catalog Scans |

Rich's site IbanezRules.com has actually beat me to the punch - he's got the 1986 catalog scanned and looks even better than mine !! He's also got the 1985 catalog done, so I'm not going to scan that one. Rich has the most comprehensive set of Ibanez catalog scans that I've seen (from 1978 through the current catalogs). If I can provide Rich with scans of the catalogs he's missing at the quality he demands, then I'll do so and shut down my site. If not, I'll just keep mine out there for reference. Rich's Awesome Catalog Scans Rich, if you give me your scan specs (you said 900 wide...what about dpi, JPEG compression, etc.) I'll redo my early 80's stuff and post samples on my site for your scrutiny.
