This one (not the black one) has reached 800 euro in less than a day!! Sorry, don't know how to copy the exact web adress.... If I remember it right best of them are from 70's and 80's. Juha   Chucke99 Username: Chucke99 Registered: 2-2007 Posted on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 - 7:56 pm:    Burnys are made by Fernandes, who, in my opinion, used to make fantastic Fender/Gibson copies in the '70's and '80's (I own a tele and a strat). Even into the '90s, they are great guitars. Their Burny brand (for the Japanese market) has kept the "open book" headstock and if they are anywhere near as good as their Ravelle and other models for the US market, they should be fine guitars. Hence, the high prices. They are all over eBay too. A lot of Japan sellers have them up. I'm looking for a cherry sunburst Les Paul Custom (gold hardware) copy at the moment. Since I can't afford the Gibby and I insist on an open book headstock, I'm keeping my eye open for a Greco, Tokai or Burny. Ok for being a well buitl axe, still I think 800euro is over the top. Here in Holland I sometimes feel people overestimate the value of their guitar. People here will easily ask 500 euro (600 dollar) for a very common guitar like a black beauty les paul copy. If you bid 200 euro's they are sometimes really offended! If my memory serves, Burnys' prices vary between 550 and 750 EUR, and of course there are exceptions because of condition, rarity etc. One who asks too much is not crazy but one who pays. Same overestimating problem here in Finland and the most annoying thing is that every now and then there is somebody who pays - prices tend to go up. I have a Tokai Les Paul ("Love Rock") from 1982 and I wouldnīt part of it. It blows away any Gibby you come up with. Only things changed: It has Schaller tuners and Gibson PAF pickups. I bought it second hand (the changes had already been made) for 1000 gulders, equals 450 Euro, equals 625 US Dollars. I LOVE that axe! I'd gladly pay about $500-$600 for one. There's a set-neck cherry sunburst custom on eBay right now with a more reasonable BIN, but I don't want to sacrifice on overall construction quality. (Electronics are not an issue since I'll be putting in my own.) -Chuck   Harry Username: Harry Registered: 3-2001 Posted on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 - 2:27 pm:    I found the link to the guitar youīre refering to and I must say: just judging by the pictures Iīd easily dare to compare itīs quality and playability to a set neck Ibanez LP (It even looks very similar to the 2650 CS). The only thing we canīt see by pictures is: does it have a solid top or an arched one, because that would make a lot of difference in sound quality. How to find out? "Youīd better knock, knock, knock on wood"......or ask the seller to do so and tell you what heīs found out.... I donīt know exactly where you live, ChuckE, but that shipping might drive up the total costs.... Nice guitar, carved solid top but made with blocks of mahogany, just like Ibanez 2350's. Plays very well. The neck is combined glued and bolt on. There's an Aria Pro II Les Paul Standard in CS on eBay where you can see a pic of that neck contruction. The pots are mounted on a circuit board. Reserve was 550 EUR. How to convince the owner he/she has overestimated the value? A month or two ago there was an old, 60's, Ibanez semihollow. I emailed the seller and told he has too high starting bid (350 EUR or so). He set starting bid and reserve lower, got one bid but reserve was not met. I repeated my offer 280 EUR + shipping. He sold the guitar to somebody else at the same price I offered. Probably he felt offended because of my advice. That's a bit too much for me. Now, here's a Greco in the UK that I'd be looking at about $400 US (maybe more) and then shipping of $200, but it looks a LOT better: Ebay Item #140156098604 Still, $600+ is too much. I have to be patient. As I've said, ideally, a body without electronics (but with the gold hardware) will come up and I can snag that. I have the pups, tuners, pickguard and vol/tone knobs I need. And I can get gold-plated tail and bridge pieces easy enough. (Though I need for the body to still have the mounting screws for the bridge and tail). Patience. I bought it for $600AUS a year or two ago. Its nearly all original except that it has Wilkinson Deluxe tuners. If you can get your hands on one, even to try out and play, it is worth doing so. You will see that the Fernandes/ Burny LP's are equal to or better than their Ibanez or Gibson equivalents. Shamless promotion of another vendor on an Ibanez site...lol
