Ebay Item #290158383710

Ending soon, and probably set too high ($5K!!!) but I thought I'd post a link since I believe some people in here are into the carved guitars. What do you guys think of this one?

I think this guy orders cheap Chinese carved bodies for his Japanese necks and assembles all sorts of Frankestein Dragons and Cobras and fantasy figures and asks way too much for them.
Their historical value is ZERO.
They're not original, not rare, and NOT beautiful. They look CHEAP! But that's probably because that is what they actually are.
I find the colouring disgusting.
This is not art, this is kitsch! Yuck!
THIS is what I call an ARTIST:

Although I think Jerry Garcia looks to much like Santa Claus, quite different from the computer sketch. The hair is not wild enough. The expression is not right. Nice try, but it's not IT. But that's the problem with wood. When it was cut away, it doesn't grow back on, and you can't cut the body smaller and smaller until the face is right. Portraits are VERY difficult.

But if you look at the fantasy figures, dragons etc., you'll see that they are much better than the Chinese carvings.

Ginger...Doug is very talented..I own the Phoneix Phlame and the St George guitars on his site. The other seller is using bodies that are actually cheap copies of Dougs designs...firewood
