Hi guys,
I got me a japanese build (I think around 1980) Cimar. Headstock just says 'Cimar Electric Guitar'.

unknown Cimar

Can ayone tell me what model name or -number this is, what year it was build and if there is an Ibanez-equivalent known for this model?

That headstock shape appeared on the very first Blazers - which would make it 79/80, I guess. Does your guitar have a serial number? The Cimar bass version of the Blazer was called the Stinger - perhaps that's also the case with this one?

That headstock also appeared on CSL branded guitars & basses - I have a (very good) Jazz bass with that head, and there's a CSL Strat on the Bay right now, with the same headstock:

Hi Jon, Stinger was my first guess too, also because of the plug hole position, but it is not. Maybe pre-Stinger. The CSL has indeed got a similar head, but this Cimar has a 'reversed' truss rod. But where's the fun in finding what you're looking for instantly? Thanks for thinking with me! To be continued ...

That's a gorgeous-looking guitar. I pray it's real wood, and not a "photoflame" laminate. How does it play?

I have to 'disect', clean and restring her first, but I'll let you know when I did. Neck and balance feel great, pups don't seem HQ, but sound okay (with 25y old strings).
