That's some interesting copy I haven't seen yet from Cimar, I understand that it's an underpriced Ibanez brand from the 90's, usually I hear people say that inferior woods and electronics were being used on those guitars.
It's in the Netherlands, I'm not sure, I think that if that equals an Ibanez I would've bought it if I could..

Hi Tristan - I've not seen that particular model before, but Cimar does appar to be connected to Ibanez - later Cimar branded guitars actually have "Cimar by Ibanez" on the headstock - so it's fair to assume Hoshino must own the brand.

As far as inferior materials are concerned - it does appear to be a budget range, however the Cimar Stinger bass was identical in every way to the first run Ibanez Blazer - however the Blazers were budget (but good quality) instruments anyway.

I've seen the headstock shape of the guitar you posted on Cimar LP copies - I assume it's a standard post "lawsuit" shape for Cimar Gibson copies.

Oh - I should add that the Cimar brand was around in the 70s - I recently had a Cimar Jazz bass copy, which had all the indications of early/mid 70s manufacture, pretty nice quality bass, the only major corner-cutting being a ply body & two-saddle bridge.

Yes, but I still think that anyone who searches for a nice archtop in that area should check this out, because in our area of Europe a 2355 goes for more than 1000EUR..

My experience with the Cimar brand has been great. I own 2 strat copies and 2 blazer copies. The blazer copies play great but the strat copies are fantastic. Maybe not of the same quality as the Silver Series Ibanez strats, but they play fantastic and sound phenomenal. Good Stuff! Blusne

I've seen this one in a live outdoor performance in Eindhoven at the Jazz and Blues Festival a few years ago [1999-2000] (aka known as "Jazz in Light Town").
The lead singer who owned it was pretty satisfied about it. At first I couldn't see what he was playing. From at distance it suggests it's a Gibson. The main reasons he played it were the size (he wasn't that tall) and the price.

The Cimar body that I saw was all plywood. No spruce top or flames.
