It's a PF200, cherry sunburst, and there is a major "ding" in the finish. End to end, it's about 1-1/2". I'm pretty sure the finish is the polymer resin, not lacquer. Where can I get that stuff in cherry transparent color? I'm going to do this myself, since I just want a cosmetic fix. I have other finishing materials, including wet sanding papers down to 2000 grit.

I found an earlier thread that recommended car touchup paint, but nail polish could work, I guess. I was hoping to match the polymer instead of using lacquer. |

You could try the musical instrument makers forum for advice. http://www.mimf.com I'll be facing the same problem soon with a badly buckle rashed 2619, but I think it will need a complete refinish on the back. |

I tried using some clear acrylic medium with a little cadmium red thrown in, but the mixture wasn't transparent and stayed very cloudy. I scraped it off. I think I may just go the route of some cherry red lacquer, mask off the area, and then build up a zillion coats of the lacquer and then sand flush. |

try using some "bondo" first, for a smooth base to color. Then you won't need to use a zillion coats. For some colors I've had good results using "Sharpie" permanent marker pens, then a clear lacquer overcoat. Black especially, but the red might work for you? |
