Richie??? Who??? Slips of my memory???
One more try

Ritchie Blackmore and Deep Purple

This is one guitarist who just keeps on evolving.

Loved his work with Deep Purple and Rainbow but with Blackmores Night he has taken his playing to a new level. His acoustic work and the feeling that he puts into the music is brilliant.

If any of you know of other players that achieve the same result with renaissance styles of music please let me know.

Ritchie is definelty up there. I always liked his work with deep purple. I seemed to have gravitaed towards the same style as his during his rainbow years. Perhaps it was a combination of my other infulences that he had as well that resulted in this similarity. He used the gypsy snke charmer scale that i used as well.

Hes great!

I must have missed this thread. Blackmore was one of my favorites back when I was teaching in the 70s. I used Deep Purple's Machine Head album as a way to deviate away from the normal pentatonic stuff. Ritchie really was creative in his style of solos. I'm still looking for a deal on a scalloped neck guitar so that I can mimick him closer...but from what I hear...once you go scalloped you never go back.

Yea ive heard that myself. In an interview ritchie said that the main reason was that when he bended his strings up the string would fight and release itself from his fingers and with the scallope he is able to keep it up there.. also its quicker on his runs
