Favorite Zep tunes: Over the Hills and Far Away, Ten Years Gone, Kashmir, How Many More Times. His solos are some of the best out there. His solo playing live was pretty sloppy towards the end of zep and into his solo years. However his solos in the studios were masterpieces. His song writing skills are great. I like the way he included folk, indian, jamaican,arabic, rock a billy, blues,celtic, even salsa! (south bound suarez).. One of the best solos from him in my opinion is found on the presence album called "Tea for one" chills when i listen to it!!!!!   Ubetcha Username: Ubetcha Registered: 7-2006 Posted on Monday, October 08, 2007 - 9:57 am:    The best concert I ever went to was Led Zepp at Winterland I think it was '72. Jimmy Page was awesome, & when he brought out a bow & played with it, the SRO crowd went nuts. About 15 years ago he played at a local venue in my very rural town, & I got to see him again for only $20. That man can play just about anything he wants to, and he has what amounts to a cult following among current young wannabee players, at least in my area. They all want just three things...a Les Paul, Led Zepp songbooks, and to learn how to play Stairway to Heaven. It's so bad, that I put up a sign in the store that says "No Stairway to Heaven". They always look at the sign, laugh, and proceed to try & play it anyways. It is the simple steady powerful beat of Bonham mixed with the sloppy technical tone of page that made them special...Not to diminish the role of Plant and jones.. What intrigued me was plants lyrics though, he made me picture magical worlds in my mindwhile at the same time connecting with me in a personal level with the girl heartbreaks n stuff.. john paul jones bass playing is great always had the right bass lines, ramble on is historical plus his keyboard playing on in the light and no quarter, amazing stuff but back to jimmy page, when i first heard the violin bow on the guitar i was in awe and inspired. dangerous stuff man!
