You may know him in his post-Scorpions incarnation of "Uli Jon Roth" but I wanted to extole the virtues of his solo artistry while he was in the Scorpions. Sure, he could shred, and was one of the early adopters of faster-than-lightning playing (Speedy's Coming, Sails of Charon) but he could also sing and cry with his guitar. He's a major influence on me with songs such as Drifting Sun, In Trance, Crying Days, and really, just about anything off of Virgin Killer. I'll never be a shredder, so I'll always have a soft spot for the guys (and gals) who can speak with their guitars. |

I like Roth too. Mate of mine back in the UK (Steve Heath) had him off to a "t". Right down to the huge whammy bar on his strat. Very cool. six |
