I was actually looking for that RT240 article, when I found this: I resized it to 97 kByte. Ginger |

So you have never heard the term, "It's all Greek to me"? Or maybe you wanna take over as Forum Smartass! The Bear |

Isn't Smartass pretty Greek? If the Dutch call names they're usually explicitly genitally orientated, not back-door orientated. With respect to non-understandable text the Dutch would mostly say: "Dat is Chinees voor mij" ("That's Chinese to me"). Anyway, the pizza guy is Dutch, and he's the guy I promissed that RT240 article. (Where did I put that magazine?). Right now I have other priorities than translating the article. So, here's a summary Main differences: RT250: solid alder body with a TZ-6 tremolo (fulcrum), 24 frets slightly fatter vintage feel maple neck 20mm thick at fret 1 and 22.5mm thick at fret 12 with a rosewood fretboard, headstock and neck are one-piece, scale is not mentioned, made in Japan and ƒ895.- EX170: plywood for the normal non-FM (cheaper), 3 glued together alder pieces with a glued-on flame maple veneer top for the EX170FM, standard two-bolt light-duty trem, 22 frets, neck is a little too thick with a scarf joint for the headstock, 65cm scale, a nice beginner's guitar, made in Korea ƒ695.- (for the flame). In both cases the body shape was based on the RG body: no arm-rest like on the Fender Strat. The author thinks a difference of 200 guilders is very small for such a difference in quality and would definitely go for the MIJ guitar. Ginger |

"In both cases the body shape was based on the RG body: no arm-rest like on the Fender Strat. " What do you mean by "arm rest"? RG bodies have both a tummy and a forearm cut. Just like a Stratocaster. The Bear |

That's what I meant: the RT models have NO forearm cut (just like a Tele), the article says their body shape was based on the RG. So that obviously goes only for the pointy horns, not for the forearm cut. I don't know, I don't have an RG. You're the Roadstar expert, Bear. I just summarized the article. I bought the RT240SB because it felt and looked so traditional. Ginger |
