Greetings All, o.k. here's a thread that no one has touch upon yet,( John, bash me if I'm incorrect). In the last 2 years in Australia ( Munch, Spiro, your input please ) I have been getting a few phone calls at the office about these really old Ibanez Salvador acoustic guitars. Now mind you when I got the first call about this S.O.B. I went straight to my old mate J.D.(Jim Donohue)& picked his brain along with some very clear photographs of the guitar in question, now J.D.told me these were built between 1938-1949, so the debate is what would you think these pieces of history, that is well before our beloved law suite models etc. etc, would be worth in good condition for it's age ?.Please note, that this guitar had a green mother of pearl overlay on the fingerboard(pretty advanced for that time frame). The floor is open for your input. Keep on rockin' Cameron Berthold |

I believe these would be the products from the company Hoshino purchased. Didn't Hoshino aquire a spanish guitar makers company so they could use the Ibanez name? I 'spose this would compare to a new "Chrysler" Jeep as compared to an original "Willys" Jeep. So the next question is; Are these "Salvador" Ibanez guitars, or "Hoshino" Ibanez guitars? Cheers Steve |

I've always wondered about Hoshino's history with these guitars. Here's a link to Hoshino Gakki Group's own site that takes credit for the Salvador line, since 1929. Too bad there's no info on the timeline from '29 to '70. http://www.hoshinogakki.co.jp/hoshino_e/history/history01.html |
