Hi from Australia, I'm wondering what you think is the better option. I've saved enough cash to buy an Artist AR300 new $1000.00 AUD. The only body colours available are the Brown Sunburst and the Honey Sunburst. Both are the Korean made models, but reading many posts on different sites I'm wondering if I should save a little more for a Japanese made model? I have seen a S/H one advertised for over $2000.00 which I think is over rated, (1983 model and a bit knocked around). Without starting up a huge discussion about Japanese V's Korean, essentially all I want to find out is are the Korean made Artists that much poorer in build quality and materials used than the Japanese ones. Also whether an early 1990 Korean made guitar would be a better buy than the new ones, (may have access to one). I've seen a Marine Blue Burst model on eBay recently and would really like one of those but they're like hens' teeth get here in OZ, so I think that's a pipe dream for me, unless someone on this forum has ideas for me. A long post but I'd like to ensure a get the best bang for my bucks and have most forums I've used in the past extremely helpful and informative and I don't expect this one will be any different, (I hope) Cheers and hoping that someone offers some help! |

Harvee, I'm also in Aus (Brisbane), and all I can really suggest is to be patient. The late '70's and early '80's models and certainly alot better than the current Korean models and usually can be bought for between $1000 and $2000. Don't just look at ebay, try the trading post. There is one for sale in Melbourne at the moment for $1300. |
