Okay, I could be starting to wear out my welcome here, but the response to my posts has been great so I'll try another. Not having much luck in tracking down a Japanese made Artist in good nick. I've just about given up getting an AR100/AR105 in that great Marine Sunburst - were they ever shipped to Australia? Was one on eBay but the owner wouldn't allow international bidders - bummer!! So unless someone has one of these under the bed, or another they'd consider selling, here's my question. Would a 1990's AR200, (made in Korea) be a better buy that the 2004/2005 versions made now? As I think the chances of me getting a good Japanese Artist, are looking pretty crook! |

Yeh that would be nice if I knew they were an available item, or whether I'm dreamin! Anyone got some info to boost or deflate the prospects of getting one? |

Harvee, I agree with tube. Hold out for the one you really want. If you ever need a guitar shipped, let me know, I'm happy to do it. -Sven |

Harvee, I tend to find that the Korean ar200 is a little bit light in the body and neck heavy. Pups really don't rate against super 58's or 80's. The latest ar300 is more the feel of a 1980's artist, but certainly could be improved with better pups. But for the same price you could easily pick up a late seventies 2618 or ar100, and it would definately be worth the wait. Here's a couple for sale although a bit pricey. http://www.guitarcrazy.com.au/ibanez.htm The 2614 "bolt on" was my first electric, still use one today. The best time to pick one up is usually after the xmas holiday season when everyone needs some cash to pay the bills. Wait and see what becomes available then. Tom. |

Thanks for the help Tom, I have already contacted Guitar Crazy - liked the Wineburst, but $2200.00 is the best price I could get. I think that's overly expensive - maybe I'm not realistic about the price but based on what's been on eBay and considering shipping etc, still too dear IMHO. Would like opinions though!! Cheers Ron |

I love my late '70s Artists. There always appears to be one or two for sale on ebay. 2617, 2618 or 2619 are all fantastic value. My '80 AR100CS is a great guitar too, but much heavier than the 2618 and 2619 I own. Just keep plugging away. A Google search may turn one up too. |
