howdy folks, hey captain: I just got me a 2460 (L5 CES copy) which dates to 1974/5 I think. I was curious about the pickups (and wanted to see if I'd lucked out on the solid top 2470- alas not) so took 'em out and checked the backs... There's a serial number stamped there: 25610 (the same on both). Are these early super 70s? They have gold plated covers (a bit worn), soldered on at the back. They have a lovely warm tone, a bit heavy on the bottom end (neck pickup), but this can be controlled with the amp/pots... |

I've seen Super 70's with or without the Super70 stamp, 5 digits sounds right too, is there a gap between the 2 and the 5610? Not sure if they are all configured that way but all of mine are. |

can't remember if there's a gap- might have been a gap after the 1? I'll check 'em again and post some pics when I get a chance... |
