I borrowed an AR-250 (c9012209)
I heard this clunking sound and found that the pickups were a little loose.
I guess they are supposed to be or kinda floating??
So I started to tighten the middle screw on the side of the pickups and found that I was raising alowering the pickup height.
So now it is messsed up.
What is the correct height or at least where is a good place to start.
height being fomr the top of the picupt to the bottom-underside of the fretted strings

Joony,

It's mostly personal preference since the pickup height affects the tone. Too high can cause problems with string "warble". Too low can make the output weak and/or the pickup may drop off the end of the adjustment screw.

I like to start at about 3/16" from the strings.

Oops, my bad! I fat-fingered "Jonny", sorry.

What I like to do on any guitar I play is hold the first/last string down at the very last fret...then adjust your pickup from there.

you have to keep in mind that when you make the down stroke on an open E chord depending on the angle of your pick you can get an awful cluck and dead sounding chirm click poof this sucks sound as well....so without sacrificing tone run'em mid way...you can push the strings into the pup...i had that problem for a bit so....anyways...happy playing
