I own an S470DXQM with some kind of ZR tremolo. I have seen a picture on the net of this ZR tremolo and on the bottom of this trem was the inscription "ZR" emblazoned in metal. When I look at the bottom of my ZR there is no such inscription. In fact it says nothing. I have been in contact on another forum with other S470DXQM owners and they tell me that their trem only has the letter "R" on the bottom of their ZR. Like I said my trem says nothing, as a matter of fact where the letters ZR should be I have scratch marks running from left to right. What kind of trem is this? What do you do when you need parts, tell the dealer well, I have an R tremolo have any parts for me? Or how about I have a scratch mark trem got any parts for me? My Ibanez S470DXQM was made in Korea at the CORT factory. It's not some knd of chinese fake. What gives with this ZR tremolo? Why the different markings for the same part? Can I get some help with this? What is it? Is it a ZR? |

All late S models have the ZR or Zero Resistance trem. The big clue is the roller bearing pivot. The markings on the bottom should be of no significance. Steve |

Thanks really for replying to my ZR inquiry Mr. Roadster I know it might seem like an odd question and was not expecting anyone to reply, thanks. But it bothers me somewhat that the same part has different markings, some people find it weird and I find it confusing. Why in this world would you take a ZR trem and make another one with the letter "Z" missing? If it's a ZR is it not worth of the ZR inscription? Or removing the inscription entirely. You have to cast these things to make them, If there is only one ZR why have 3 different moulds? It looks to me like someone removed the ZR inscription letters one at a time. This does not make sense if there is only one ZR trem. If they are different or whatever and are a serious part maker you would put a more significant marking on the trem. One letter missing (Z) on a ZR trem marked "R" looks just plain bad! To be perfectly honest would you buy a new Ford Mustang if the pony emblem had his tail missing. Can you honestly say no problem it's still a Ford Mustang. I would like to hear from anyone as to what this foolishness is about. |
