Author Message Captainibanez Username: Captainibanez Registered: 01-2004 Posted on Monday, October 16, 2006 - 10:56 pm:    Hey gang just prior to retiring from Australis Music I had a customer call me about a SZ520QM GAB they had bought from a dealer in South Australia, the issue was that it was different to what they had seen in the 06 catalogue. So after chatting to the customer for a while about the differences and doing some rapid cross checking whilst they were on the phone, I was pleased to tell them they had themselves a modern day rare bird. What has happened in production was the factory had put a neck from a Japan Domestic model SZ520FM(flame maple body) GAB ( this is the one whith the ECG heartbeat style inlay onto a SZ520QM(quilted maple body)GAB. Sometimes this does happen creating yet another collectable guitar by accident. So here are the pictures of the 2 models for you to compare. Sorry my morphing skills are no good to give you a true indication , but Im sure your collective minds will get the picture First the Japan Domestic model SZ520FM GAB Then the SZ520QM GAB My thoughts are that this FM neck on a QM body is a excellent look...who knows one day it maybe part of the range for the rest of us ! Let me know your thoughts. Funny, because I'm not usually a fan of quilted maple, but it it really goes well on these guitars. I also usually don't particularly like brand new guitars (newest guitar I own is 22 years old), but after playing the SZ720 at BamBam in Blacktown I fell in love - if I were to buy any new guitar the SZ would be the one.
