*************INCOMING MASSAGE FROM CAPTAIN IBANEZ********

Dude, where's my Ibanez***Sweet !

Ok Ibaneezers, lets sought out the crap here. This weekend, lets gets the truth out into cyber space, be you a jazzer, a rocker, ( 80's cockrocker's included, a plucker (acoustic player )or a bedroom rock ledgend....Come on step up to the plate, tell the old Captain what's your favourite Ibanez law suite model that has taken you to the haloed halls or garage halls of Rock N Roll fame, and why haveyuoretired your old friend for a newer floosey of the Ibanez range that still makes you burn or play with passion. What's in your arsenal today that is compareble with today's great range....and I don't mean the NAMM release either. It could be something that you bought 20 years ago or whatever. Not that the old Captain is trying to be a marriage councilor, but what is it that makes you leave a close personal friend on the guitar stand from time to time?

Skipper,

The Moderne of course. And for no other reason than it's taken me 25 years to get hold of one.

HAR AVAST CAP'N!
I have managed to play a few old logo Ibanez's...Strat comes last..but I can't really say why other than personal choice....SG's are really good ,but the one I played was missing original pups, My Antoria thinline tele (purchased last week...£45!!) is astounding and my new best buddy....BUT my 77 Ivory PF200 Les Paul really is the Mutts Nuts...roars like a monster!! It must be like having a car with 400 Brake horse power!!
Now the Moderne on ebay UK last week failed to reach the reserve (£275)...i wonder if he'll post it again nearer payday!!!

Hi captain
From a player's point of view I would without any doubt vote for my '77 Ibanez Explorer. I bought it with 2 DiMarzio's fitted, which I immediately changed for two chrome "new old stock" (they were still packed in original box, still wrapped in tissues) Super 70's and when I plugged it in after the restoration it blew my socks off!! You won't believe the tone, the sustain and the playability of this one.
From a collector's point of view I like my plexi Dan Armstrong copy most. But probably it will be knocked off from its top-position by the fully original Art Nouveau Strat (the one with the botanical figures, model 2408-2) that's coming my way within a few week's time. As soon as it is arrived I'll tell you more!
Kind greetz,
Harry

Hey Capy,

1978 White (Ivory) PF200 named Roxxanne. I put a Seymour Duncan Distortion on her sometime in the early 80's. She still rocks!

My vote's for a '75 Deluxe 59'er Black a BAD to the bone...RC-don't think a PF qualifies as a "lawsuit" guitar..couple of years too young !

Dear Captain,
In the seventies and eighties, I worked in a guitar store. We sold all the Ibanez models. Ah, those fond memories! As I play allmost exclusively bass nowadays, I’d LOVE to grab hold of one of my all time favourite models: the 2396-b-wh, the love child of a White precision father and a black-blocked neck jazz mother. Or even better, it’s rich P-J cousin, from the Silverseries. Second is the 2356 zebra jazz.

I have a beautiful mid seventies precision from Morris, it looks exactly like the 2366 B. Was Morris not also from Hoshino Gakki? I also own a seventies’ “custom” fretless precision (rosewood neck) which I believe to stem from the same factory, and an early seventies Cimar maple bound neck, black blocks jazzbass, with a smaller headstock. A not so precise clone, though. My bolt-on neck Rick 4001 clone is a good player, sounding much like the original..
My latest, the Roadstar II RB924 (‘84) is a very versatile instrument, with a dream of a neck.
But of course not a lawsuit guitar, only being 20 years old..

regards
Hans

Although I have 3 Gibson Explorers, I only use my '76 Ibanez's live.

I am currently in the market for a sweet Rocket Roll....

Hi Ripper!

Nope....not as far as I know. There is however a Jazzmaster copy, made in the very early 70's (from 1970 unril 1972).
Kind greetz,
Harry
