Is there any way to tell what model this could be? Seller does not know, but would like $500. In lieu of a photo, a detailed description can reveal enough to define the model. On a Musician, flat top vs arched top and the control layout are big factors. I'm sure one of the resident Musician experts can help you out. But Steve is correct;control layout?, flat top?, and even bolt on neck vs. neck through?, would help to id it. Pictures would be best! The big differences between this and the MC300 would be that the MC300 had gold hardware and Tri-sound circuitry on both Super 88 pickups. This guitar differs from those shown in the '78 catalog in that the toggle switch is at the rear of the guitar body rather than the upper horn. I thought having the pickup switch in the control cavity was somewhat odd. Mine is a '77, and I only paid $250 for it, but it was in rough shape. There is hole around the input jack where it obviously was pushed into the control cavity. The hole was covered up by a washer in the picture and I never noticed it. So now I'm in the middle of a refinish, hoping I can patch that thing somehow. In my opinion, the best way for determining worth is by simply determining what someone will pay for it. Right now, the best market to use for comparison is eBay. You can run a search for completed items to get an idea on what others went for recently. Keep in mind that finish color will affect the price. Just from memory, I think the 200s and 300s are fetching anywhere from $500-$650 in nice shape.
