Guy's over the last few weeks, your Ol' Cap has been quized over....I wish that, I wish this as far as re-issue models go from Japan. So I say, with things only being about I just got a hard on over this guitar on Ebay for 2000 dollars lately, put your money where your mouth is....and be realistic...what would you like to see Ibanez re-release ..."for the world market" and why. I will be using your much respected feedback for use in future meetings with the "big boys". Now for those who maybe new to the playground, we have already had the following re-issues so far in a period from 1995 to 2004, these are as follows.BTW, these are the most common one's regardless of where you live Blaser : BL100, BL300, BL500, 1995 only Artist AR300CS 1996-1998 AR200HS 2004 2681NT: BOB WEIR MODEL 1996-1998 MC300DS MUSICIAN SERIES: 1996-1998 MC924DS MUSICIAN SERIES BASS:1996-1998 DT400 DESTROYER: 1996-97 & 2003 (USA ONLY) DT200 DESTROYER: 2004 So, what's left to re-issue peeps.... Well, tell ya what the Old Cappy would like to see back again.... ICJ100W : Now this is a Iceman that really hauls some ass....and I'm not into White Zombie in any way shape or form....I give this 10 out of 10 for Japanese craftmanship ! Stars on a metallic green background are cool to say the least for the "coolest shape on the planet" SILVER SERIES STRATS & TELE'S Now I know what your going to say...but get out of your litigation Armani suit and just enjoy this classic S.O.B. For old bastard's like me...hey not too much of the old your only 42 for F@#$ sake....you now know why I have never owned a Fender and wonder why it's such a task to find a good one....bit like the search for the holy grail ! Artwood Twin Necks.....cause they deserve too be ! Randy Scruggs model....cause they deserve to be, and there a fat sounding axe ! Blaser 825 & 1025....to me this is the polish that they were always hoping to put on all the other models that have worn the Blaser logo on the past. Golden Oldies...Explorer & Flying V.... After all these years.....a company starting with G, still cant get it as good as these, even at a lower price point from Korea....they will never be a good as these. Joe Pass JP20: He's long gone now, god restrest his soul, but there is something about his model when you play it...you just feel it, and to be honest, even George's GB200 does'nt come close. So step up to the plate amigo's....what's your choice ! Captain Ibanez |

I mentioned this in another thread, I'd like to set the Artfield AFD5CTTB reissued. Look at this beauty: I'd rather have amber than blue, but beggars can't be choosy. |

What would make me happy? Well this week - A hot night with Beyonce would do just fine. Next week - same thing with someone else Oh, yeah. A 2676 would be nice. PLEASE, SOMEONE MUST HAVE ONE! six |

The ash and/or walnut Musician ... please, please, please. The Performer body style, a nice compliment to the artist. The older Artist neck joints, like on the '78 2617's. Seemed more elegant, and in my opinion, more comfortable than the current joints. A limited edition vine inlay guitar. In addition to the current reissue pedals (TS808, CS9, FL9), it'd be cool to have the AF9 or AF201 Auto Filters of Mutron-like legend; The Flying Pan would be oh so hot even at $200-$300; and maybe one of the compressors, CP9 or CP835. A reissue of the AD80 Analog Delay might do well too. Past ebay trends should prove some great public demand for these pedals. |

Of course I would say the Artfield. But, on the other hand the feeling of being one of the happy few Artfield owners (I have 2) won't be the same if re-issues become widely available. Dreaming of collecting all original Artfields in order to get the complete series is a major part in the fun of collecting. Just my 2 euro cents |

I'm down to 5 Roadstars right now. Back on topic... Although it's a relatively recent model, I'd like to see the 470S/SF470 come back. That's an "S" with a Gibralter II, QuickChange II, and a 24 3/4" scale for those who don't know. One sweet player! Cheers Steve |

Would love to see the AS400 being produced again. Along the same line of thinking, an AM205 with the same neck-through construction would be my Ibanez to die for. |

I'd like to add a reissue to my request list. How about one of the hottest pedals on ebay - the Flying Pan? These things are going for outrageous prices used. I'm sure a reissue would be quite profitable for Ibanez. |

Guy's some good input so far on this thread. Well done Seems to me I should have titled this thread...If only I hadn't sold that guitar FYI, The guy's in Japan are well aware of this thread that I started here, so if there is anything within reason that could be re-released in the future, then jot your thoughts down. I think that it's a very true fact that we all love and miss those Law Suite models...but hey, there is so much more of the original designs that would look good in the collection. Steve, the SF470's...I agree, great player and good seller too ! Soulfilament, yes I could not agree more, I too am a big fan of the Super 80 Flying Finger pickups, would have been good to see them in this years AR300 HS.Bad luck you missed the bus on the late 90's re-issues of the MC300 Johns, yes ,yes, yes, but don't you think the market has enough of this style right know, or do you think you could "spank the monkey" if it was a part of the Prestige Range ?. I think it would have to be either a spot production model or play safe and insert a "limited edition" logo @ the 21st fret. Say a build run of 100 to 150 for the world market. Acetan, sorry about the rush the other day when you came into the office last week....next time your down under I'll make sure we get a full day for you to explore the realm of Captain Ibanez.....dude don't die....by a Schofield and enjoy Craigjc, here, here. Love those Lukather's. Good call....Steve were you asleep with this one ?. Flying Pan....what about the Jetalyzer?. Keep up the stimulie dude's .....we are listening! Captain Ibanez |

"If only I hadn't sold that guitar" Don't get me started on that one Cap! Anyway. What about Beyonce Cap? She must be worth a mention in your summary? Hey! Here's one for Hoshino. What about air-brushed Ibanez guitars with your fave woman on the front? They could pay them a small royalty for each of their faces. Like: Kylie Christina J.Lo Britney Madonna (errrr) Angelina And of course Beyonce! Now that is something I would definitely like to see six |

Hi Captain, Enjoy meeting you very much and really appreciate your hospitality. Sorry about dropping in with no notice. I envy you for being able to work amongst all those beautiful music instruments, it must be soothing for the soul. You know how much I love those AM's and it will be absolutely fantastic if they would do a through-neck 205, AM405? |

"Steve, the SF470's...I agree, great player and good seller too!" Unfortunately, they're not easy to find! What WAS I thinking when I sold mine? Dumbass... "Craigjc, here, here. Love those Lukather's. Good call....Steve were you asleep with this one?" Nope, not sleepin'. There was something like 1600 of 'em built and they can still be found without too much effort. I just don't see the need for a reissue on this one. I just thought of another one I'd like to see: DG350's! Especially with the Marine Sunburst finish. Hey, don't laugh! Hair Band's may come back. Formatting is FUN! Cheers Steve |

Captain: You asked: "don't you think the market has enough of this style right know, or do you think you could "spank the monkey" if it was a part of the Prestige Range ?" First Rhinos, now Monkeys. Wazzup with the animal fetish? (help mate, the dingo ate my wallaby!) This was my point in another thread about reissues. If they aren't economically feasible because the market for them is too small, then resurrect a model that would fit right in with today's models. Should it be part of the Prestige series? I don't know, it's possible. 100-150? With vines? OK, I'll go for that (you'd probably sell half of them to members of this discussion board). But I'd also do a larger run with MOP ovals to satisfy the rest of the world supply. |

Soul: If this was a production guitar, I'd vote for it to be reissued in a heartbeat. I've heard that it was customized and shown at a NAMM show. No doubt, this puppy is super special. But in a different class than reissues and collectibles, IMO. Maybe Jim Donahue could give us the scope on this? |

A Byrdland reissue - but with a FLAMED MAPLE NECK like the REAL ONES. I know Ibanez has the stash of wood to do it too !! (DON'T THEY ??). Some of the best copy guitars they made were the L-5, Johnny Smith and Byrdland copies. I have this great video of George Benson (from just before the WEEKEND IN L.A> period) where he's playing the heck out of a Ibanez Johnny Smith copy and wailing !! BigMike |

BigMike: Funny you should mention GB and this Johnny Smith. I was at the Blue Note in NYC two Sundays back. GB was in several pictures on the wall, the earliest showed him playing an Ibanez copy of a Gibby full-size archtop. It had a lawsuit headstock. I guess this was the Johnny Smith? |

John, I'd be real suprised if it was a production guitar. But it's simply stunning nonetheless. If Jim knows more about this guitar I'd love to hear about it. In terms of reissues/collectables, it'd be cool to see a very limited run. I'm sure in that capacity it could command a premium, which would probably be needed. It'd be a killer ego piece, which is why I suggested maybe an anniversary. Perhaps a 15th anniversary for the Ibanez USA Custom Shop, made in the custom shop, and the only consumer produced guitars from that shop in years. Probably just a pipe dream, fraught with financial and political roadblocks. Still, a fun fantasy Michael |

I'll add my vote to the call for an AM205 reissue - this is till one of the sweetest and most versatile axes in my stable. Speaking of sweet and versatile how about the 2451 L6 copy as another candidate? Not generally considered a classic by any means but a handy axe to have. Cheers Russ |

Russell, I have two Artists (AR300CS and AR305) with the coil taps. These are reasonably versatile but I can't quite get that Strat sound. How do you reckon the 2451 compares to these guitars in terms of versatility. I am thinking of getting one. Thanks, James |
Russellw (Russellw)
| Posted on Saturday, June 26, 2004 - 4:09 am: | |
Hi James The versatility I was referring to is the ability to get a pretty good imitation of the classic Strat tone while still retaining the warm tones required in a Les Paul - it even does a passable imitation of shred if that happens to be your thing! When you factor in the nicely playable neck, sturdy design, good basic fititngs, maple body and a set neck; this is an under rated axe. Cheers Russ |

Hi Russ, Thanks for your comments. I ended up passing on it as I found an AR305AV in better condition than the one I already own. So, I am about to spend the money on this instead. I was pretty tempted though. I am sure they are a great sounding guitar. Maybe next time, if there is one! Cheers, James |
