Well, it looks like an '88 RG140, except for the dual humbuckers and missing tone control. I can't find anything exactly like it in any of my photos or catalogs.

RG100

Cheers

Tend to agree with you Steve, looks like it's had a few mods done to it. 1988 RG140 WH is the correct answer. :)

Captain Ibanez :)

An '88 RG140 has a volume and a tone control, and the pickups are hum/sing/sing. Otherwise it has the same features.

This one appears to have been built with only the volume control. Perhaps this another of the Captain's "spot production" items?

The serial number might help.

why would it have been built without a tone knob?

Just my 2 cents, But maybe whomever this guitar was built for (if it is indeed a custom or one-off build) didn't want a tone knob.

I can only speak for myself, but I never "use" my tone knobs. They're always set at 10...

If I were to build a guitar, it wouldn't have tone knobs.

I'm with ya there, Jeff! Hell, I could probably manage to get by without a volume control too.
