Catain Ibanez,

I have a 1982 AR305AV Artist. The screws holding down the Quick-Change tailpiece are not in the best condition. There are two nuts that lock the height-adjusting screws that may not be original, certainly there is no gold plating on them. One of the height-adjusting screws has part-sheared through the slot.

Do you have any spares lurking in your box of tricks? Or failing that, do you have any drawings of the parts so that I could get a set turned-up by a friend of mine who owns a lathe.

On another issue, a previous owner (probably the same guy who sheared the adjusting screw) has scratched the top. It looks like a screwdriver slipped and dug into the finish next to the bridge. How can I repair this? There is also a chip along the edge that goes down to the bare wood. I can live with these, but the guitar is otherwise in such excellent condition that I would prefer to repair the damage.

I'm in Perth, Western Australia.

I have a complete new set of anchor/height adjustment bolts/tail piece for AR's in factory packaging. The brand new gold finishing may not match the rest of the hardware if they are worn or tarnished though.

Acetan,

You have mail...

The gold parts on my Artist are in pretty good condition.

Acetan,

I received your picture of the tailpiece and ajdusting screws. I have identified it as a Quick-Change Mk 2 tailpiece. My Artist has the Quick-Change Mk1 which utilises a different mounting system.

Thanks for you efforts though, I really appreciate that.

So, Capt Ibanez, it's down to you now. Can you help me out?
