i have a 1980 ibanez artist (ar100av) that i have never seen its twin . It looks just like the artist you show with 2 major exceptions , it has an antique violin finish (sunbursty looking) w/ gold hardware and my tailpiece has a decorative addition ......a triangular piece after the tailpiece w/ the ibanez logo .......i describe my guitar to people who "supposedly" know better and they tell me ibanez never built such a guitar. They tell me i probably bought it used and its been modified.....but NO WAY i still have the warrantee card that was on the headstock.........my question is...have u heard of my specific guitar AND im looking to replace pitted gold hardware (im told its called "gibralter II" hardware) ......do you know where i could find replacement hardware for this guitar .......thank you in advance |

If it's a 1980 Artist, it should be fitted with the original Gibraltar hardware, not Gibraltar II. So far as I'm aware, the Gibraltar II hardware appeared in 1983. I have a 1982 Artist with the original Gibraltar hardware. The easiest way of identifying the original Gibraltar bridge is that it is quite wide and has square ends, the Gibraltar II bridge is narrower and has rounded ends. There is an AR105AV that has the cloud tailpiece and burl mahogany top. The AV indicates Antique Violin finish. I'm not familiar with the AR100AV, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. |

Rich ibanez made the AR3000 with the gibralter2 for 2004. You can go to Ibanez.com click on whatever country you want, then on guitars, then parts. Then click 2004 then ar then the ar3000 and there will be a menu you can go through with pictures. Some of those parts will probably be just right for yours. Brian |

Rich, What you describe is the stock hardware configuration for an AR100: Gibraltar II bridge, slotted quick change tail with the added "cloud" behind the tail. There was a thread a few months back on this site where I posted the part numbers for these. Hoshino USA had some NOS replacement parts back then, but you'll have to go to your local Ibanez dealer and have them ordered (if they still have some left). Here they are: Bridge: 20G325G Quick change tail: 20G226G Cloud: 20G2261G Alternatively, consider replating the originals. The NOS pieces will run you about 130 USD and you can probably can get yours replated for about the same. I guess it depends on if you want to retain the originals for "collectability" sake. Several regular contributors to this site have had success replating. Do a keyword search on this site for "plating" or "replating" and I'm sure you'll find the names of the platers that have been recommended. Hope this helps. js |

I found this picture of a 1981 AR100AV http://www.dfki.de/~kowalski/my_ar100.htm And it's fitted with the original square-ended Gibraltar bridge. I'd say almost impossible to find spares for, perhaps Captain Ibanez or Spiro has one lurking around in a dusty corner somewhere. Unless the bridge you have is damged beyond repair, you should seriously consider re-plating. At least that way you'll have all-original parts. |

Bluesmeister, I purchased three sets (bridge, tail & cloud) directly from Hoshino USA about 4 months ago. They may still have some available. js |

Jeff, How did you get your order filled with Ibanez. Every time I go to a local store they tell me you can't get parts from Ibanez. Did you go through a local store? If so please forward thier info soI can place an order via them. Thanks for the good news. Eric |

Say Jeff, That's heartening news. I'm about to take off for a month's vacation overseas, but I'll look into contacting Hoshino USA on my return. I need to replace one of the TailPiece adjusting screws that's partly sheared at the slot. Frank |

Well, I've found that any store that tells you they can't get parts from Ibanez simply doesn't deal with them often enough to know how to do it or the salesperson just didn't feel like helping out. I have a ton of Guitar Centers popping up locally and every time I go into one of those I have to deal with some punk who doesn't know his ass from a whole in the ground about the gear he's selling. But enough of that... I live VERY close to Hoshino USA in Bensalem, PA. Their number was posted in the thread I mentioned earlier so I just called them. I was hoping they would allow me stop in and pick the parts up. The guy I dealt with (Paul) was very helpful. He told me that they do not normally deal directly with the public, but that "one time" he would fill my order. He suggested that in the future I go through a local Ibanez reseller: George's Music in Trevose, PA. I have since purchased other replacement part through that store. They are a chain, having a few stores here in SE PA. Their website is www.GeorgesMusic.com. I'm pretty sure they have store contact information on their site. By the way, the guys at George's Music in Trevose always go out of their way to be helpful. They're really cool to deal with. I've spent many a lunch hour in there playing their gear. Other members (gratefuldad, for one) have also been able to purchase replacement parts from other dealers. In fact, I think GratefulDad got a better price through his dealer than I did going directly through Hoshino. He also posted the contact information of his dealer. Again, I don't remember it, but it is listed in original thread on this subject. js |

I rode by Georges on Saturday but didn't stop in. I have been there before about 5 or 6 years ago and it is a nice place. Where are you from Jeffsailor? I live in Levittown. |

The price probably would be cheaper at a dealer because buying direct you are paying the list prices. |

I emailed my friend at Hoshino USA and asked about a parts dealer list and I got the following response: WE are in the process of developing a system that will allow us to sell parts directly, but not quite yet. In theory parts can be ordered from any authorized dealer, but we know dealers don't really want to be bothered. If they are really having a problem they should call here am we will try to help. |

IbanezFreak, I grew up in Bensalem. I actual lived in your area (Fairless Hills) for about 10 years but now live outside of Doylestown in Jamison. My office is in Trevose, so I have to go by George's every day on the way home. Its a nice shop, but they really don't have many high end guitars. But as I said, they're real nice people and are very happy to help with whatever you're looking for. js |
