Ok Ibaneezers, my good friend Sprio was around at the Captains place today and expressed concern about how there was a small issue brewing in the ICW galaxy about Blaser...or if you like Blazer..to quell political correctness on the names....how ever to quote The Rock from WWE..."It doesn't matter what your name is" LOL. So, tonight I thought I would give all in ICW land the scans of the re-issues from 1995 & 1997 in colour for all to absorb and go ...Ahhhh over. Lt Roadstar...you know have the com whilst I have a relaxing Jack Daniels...! See, in 1995...last century...eeeekk! there were 3 models. BL100, BL300 and BL500. Now, the BL100 was made from Basswood, BL300 & BL500 where solid Ash bodies....yet all models had quarter sawn 1pc Maple necks and special wound Blazer pickups..(old school)and the same fret wire, but their bridges were different, BL100 had a ST30 trem, BL300 had a STN50 bridge and the BL500 had a TZ100 bridge, BL100's had chrome hardware & BL300 & BL500 had gold hardware. I have just recently sold my BL500LB (Laser Blue) to a student who is going to the Conservitorium of Music here in Sydney, Be honest, glad the Captain's legecy is being passed on down the line for future generations to rock on with. However, the 1997 re-issue was a different kettle of fish altogether. The 1997/98 Blazer re-issues as they appear in the cattledogs, where made from a Alder body with the same top quality Quarter Sawn Maple neck, but had a H/S/H pickup config.Rosewood fingerboards, both models have the same pickups, the only difference was that the BL825 had a Gotoh510AT trem and the BL1025 had a Wilkinson VSV trem system....the BL1025 had an extra 6 hand finishings done to it to give it that well loved /played feel to it...and yes my eager young space cadets..this is very apparent when you A-B the 2 models together...there is a big difference between the 2 models. Enjoy the scans...any questions..."Just ask me" Captain Ibanez

What market was that catalog printed for? We had Blazers in the USA in 1980, but the above says, "introduced to the market in 1982". '82 was the LAST year of the originals over here. Steve |

Thanks Captain, I can now confirm that I am playing a '95 BL300TV, which I bought second hand about 5-6 yrs ago. I moved from Belfast, Northern Ireland to London, England about 5 yrs ago, and left the guitar behind. I went back to Belfast over Christmas and found the old beauty. It now has top spot in my colection over my USA Strat... I bought it for GBP 80 (about AUD 200). Do you know what they retailed for back in '95, and what they sell for these days? I don't want to sell it, just interested if I got a good deal. |
