On an impulse yesterday whilst driving through Blacktown in Sydney's west, my wife said "why don't we stop in at Cash Converters?". Found parking, went inside, and what did we find? A 1978 IC400, Antique Violin in colour, in very good condition and all the original bits still attached - frets are full of life, couple of very minor dings in body, a buckle scratch on the back, and corrosion on the gold plate bridge and tail - flying fingers covers cleaned up nice though. Did I hear you ask how much? Did I mention it came with the original hardcase in not too shabby condition? Tell 'em the price son! How does AU$349 sound? (approx US$270). Man, with the sustain block and half/half nut, this thing screams. I must admit I'd never really paid much attention to Icemans (or is the plural form "Icemen"?) before, but this baby rocks! I'd say as good as my 2345W (SG clone). I'll post some pics when I get the chance. Not that I think I'd ever sell it, but based on the above info what do you guys think this model would fetch amongst collectors? |

As promised, the pics: I am still blown away at how great it sounds and plays, I reckon you could play it through a clock radio and it would still rock! Still can't believe I got it so cheap, thank god there are still people out there that haven't found ebay yet! |

An excellent bargain indeed Flatbag. Its in really great condition for its age. Reminds me of the guy who came into the office one day around 4 years ago, to identify the Ibanez he bought at Cash Conveters at Bondi Junction in Sydney for only $500 ......thats right peeps...his bargain for that kind of money was a.......Mint condition Bob Weir Blonde. I think stumbling onto a bargain is better than searching these days . Captain Ibanez |

Flatbag: I've always been impressed by these older Icemen. It's nice to see one "live" and up close rather than simply in the catalog. You did great! |

Hey Spiro, I was lucky to get parking myself, I didn't find a spot until my third lap of Main Street - I was about to give up and go home! Not to rub salt in the wound, but it pays to be persistent. I think ol' Cappy hit the nail right on the head though, stumbling onto bargains is much better than searching; you never know what you'll find, or where you'll find it. It's just a matter of keeping your eyes open. And beating the other collectors to it - sorry Spiro |

Nice find Jeff! I would spend the money for a new case before you have the guitar shipped so theres no chance of her getting damaged. Looks like a great guitar! |

Couldn't let this one slip by. I'm not sure how much of a bargain it will be once I restore the electronics. Its not exactly the AM255 I've been waiting for, but it will probably hold me over for a while... http://www.qksrv.net/click-1802666-10381315?loc=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI .dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D7357701200 |
