These creatures are the one of the Ultra collectable Ibanez 1990's basses....very limited production runs.If you don't know the shape...just look at the Ergodyne 900 or 905 models of late..and hey they even made a couple of twin neck basses as well. I would love to put a scan up but I don't want to damage my Ibanez the Untold Story book..sorry.....anyone out there own one?. I have the wiring diagrams on file but no catalogue..anyone got one of these? I've seen a few with the horn broken off. I guess time will tell how long this stuff lasts. If it falls the wrong way then it will break. I got an EDA900 and I love it. It has some nice sounds and I got it dirt cheap in in December 2003 for $70.00 dollars as a sample from Hoshino. I looted this aristocrat from a Chapel St. pawnbrokers last month for $850. It's a Saman body (that's a Brazilian rainforest wood, slightly curly like walnut but darker) with the maple half thru neck, is a 5 string as indicated by the model no., and is in excellent nick with the original AFR case also. Mine is build no. 0115 and came with the original truss rod wrench, allen key and a period Ibabez owners manual (generic), so I really got lucky. The previous owner had been a metal head by the looks of the "Danzig" and "Slayer" stickers on the case , but had looked after it. I'm rapt to find a local data base such as ICW because I've never seen another one of these and have been wondering if anyone knows much about them. My questions: 1. Have any well known players used these? 2. I've seen similar examples in the stock of European guitar shops on the net for the Aus. equivalent of $1600-2800. Is this a realistic price range for them here? 3. All my electrics work fine, but as a precautions could I get hold of a wiring diagram from you, or even better, a copy of the original Ibanez owners manual for the AFR? 4. What general price or quality range of bass amplification do you think they deserve? Yours in pillaging, piracy and rape (of guitar thieves), Bosun Shackman Lesliegl Username: Lesliegl Registered: 03-2005 Posted on Wednesday, August 03, 2005 - 1:06 am:    Hi mr Boson..lol..i hope im not cutting in on the capt'n here...the main pro user of the AFR bass at the time of its release in the mid 90s was an english bass player by the name of Percy Jones..who had played with jazz rock progressive type bands like Brand X .. he was featured in a issue of bass player magazine at the time and he used the top end Hartke bass gear...hope that helps.. Leslie ps according to a Ibanez catalogue of the time which had the SR5000SM bass which is also made from Saman.. it says the wood is from the Phillipines..and idea on that capt'n?? if theres one bass which i can file under ''the one that got away''is the SR5000SM i tried in a music shop in Brissy in 97...i didnt buy it..i had the money..Saman is a beautiful timber ..like coffee cake swirl..still kicking myself about that one..lol Shackman Username: Shackman Registered: 08-2005 Posted on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - 7:58 am:    Hey Captain, Are you asleep at the helm or just busy counting those pieces of eight? I had heard of him but never heard any of Brand X's stuff. Only other AFR user I've since id'd is the bass player in 80's hair metal band Warrant, some dude called Jerry Dixon. Not a great recommmendation! (Remember "Cherry Pie"?) Looks like the next household name using an AFR is going to have to be me.....!
