AS50 setup

Author Message Dorigatti Username: Dorigatti Registered: 04-2005 Posted on Wednesday, May 04, 2005 - 11:14 pm:    Hi, I”m putting back the Bridge and Stoptail on my newly acquired AS50 and I need some ballpark figures on bridge and stoptail height, both on the bass and treble side. I also notice that the saddles on the Tune-O-Matic-type bridge face as follows: Low E string— the saddle slope faces the nut A string— it faces the nut D string— it faces the bridge G string— the nut B string— the bridge high E string— the bridge Is this correct? Should the strings touch (rest on) the back of the bridge before they curve down into the stop-tail, or should they clear it? What is the recommended setup? Any info on relief measurement and string height at the 12th fret bass and treble as well as pickup pole height would also be very welcome. Thank you all in advance. Thanks \image \image Dorigatti Username: Dorigatti Registered: 04-2005 Posted on Thursday, May 05, 2005 - 9:16 pm:    I'll try again Nuno Username: Nuno Registered: 02-2005 Posted on Friday, May 06, 2005 - 2:39 am:    maybe you wanted Mr.Donahue answer your question, but i guess he's busy right now. i can tell you that basically there aren't rules about whether the saddles were supposed to face the nut or the Stop Tailpiece, but i guess you should start by having the saddles slope side facing the Stop Tailpiece. then, while you're setting the intonation, it may happen that some saddles need to be placed further back, and if the slope face doesn't allow the saddle to move any backward, you'll just flip it over, with the slope face facing the nut. once the intonation is correctly set up, no matter how the saddles are set. and of course, you don't want the strings to touch anything other than the saddles and the Stop Tailpiece. if any of them is touching the back edge of the bridge, raise the Stop Tailpiece until the strings run free to the Stop Tailpiece. nuno www.ibanez87.it Dorigatti Username: Dorigatti Registered: 04-2005 Posted on Saturday, May 07, 2005 - 11:34 am:    Thanks Nuno, I think I have a prtetty good idea how to do it now.
