I was just wondering where a good place on line would be for me to get an original FLoyd Rose tremelo. I am looking to get it for my RG470 that I just got, and none of the music stores where I live (in Reno) carry them. Any help woule be really appreciated....Thanks Brianna |

The RG470 had three different tremolo's over the years and each has a different rout and stud style. I would guess you have the later one that has the LO-TRS on it, Actually this is a Japanese bridge that is not a bad bridge, the Korean one the Lo-TRSII is the one people don't like.

Hello Jim,
How about the TRS trem (No "Lo" in the name)? Where was that made? It looks identical to the old TRS-101 trems (which were stamped TAKEUCHI in the metal block).

The TRS is the Takeuchi TRS-101. This was not used on any models that came into the USA except for the 1997-1998 RG340 that was made at Peerless factory in Pusan Korea.(Peerless is actually a sub branch of IIda Gakki in Japan)
Takeuchi makes the Lo-TRS also for Ibanez. Actually they are very well made. I did a rockwell test on it and it is just as hard as a Schaller Floyd, Takeuchi has a secret way of hardening the plates, I went there but they would not show me the system, It is sort of like the Bush's baked been secret recipe.
I know some of these tremolo's were shipped to other countries on some lower prices RG models. Some made in Japan, Probably the Early 1990's.

Thanks for the really informative reply. So, in general, would you say that the Takeuchi tremolos (TRS-101/TRS/Lo-TRS) are well made (or better than the Korean Lo-TRS II in terms of overall quality)?

Yes all Takeuchi made bridges are better than any Korean one, the Korean manufatures just can't get the hardness correct. The reason is that in Korean Guitar manufaturing hardware companies are very small, they don't have the money to invest in better equiptment. The Japanese are very good with metal, they make some of the best tools.
The difference is the Japanese are the best copiers in the world, This goes back to when the Japanese bought US trains in the late 1800's, They took them apart piece by piece and made them the same as the US trains, then they improved on them. Now they have the Shin-kan-sen (Bullet Train) Also they make the Lexas and Infinite, these were copies of European Cars.
