I have an Ibanez that i purchased in 1994 at a local music store and no one can seem to tell me much about it. Not even the model of the guitar. Is there anyway to find this out without having to go through a big ordeal of sending pictures and stuff directly to Ibanez? The serial number is A700122 and it is a lime green with a pearl finish...If a picture would be more helpful, i can scan one and try and post it...Any help with finding out any info on this guitar would be greatly appreciated. I am thinking of selling it and am looking for what it is worth..and of course just my sheer curiousity of finding out what it is... Thanks Steve |

Steve1: It's a Jan 1987 Roadstar Pro 580T Turbot. Take a look at this thread: Cool Contemporary Electrics: Ibanez S580T - One of a kind??????? then do a Keyword Search (Utilities menu on the left) on "turbot" and "580" for other discussions about the guitar. |

Steve, Ibanez put out two 580 models in '87, the 580B (or ballback) and the 580T (turbot). The ballbacks were offered in transparent wood stain finishes whereas the turbots were offered in green and pink. They're both pretty odd creatures in my opinion. But I think that adds to their appeal. There was recently a 580B on eBay that sold for just over $400. Of course, that's really only an estimate. Prices vary on eBay for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is how the guitar is listed. And that 580B was not listed as well as it could have been. If your guitar is in good-excellent condition, I would guess that you could get upwards in the range of 500-600. But remember, a guitar is worth no more or less than what someone is willing to pay for it. js |

I paid $300 for my near mint Ballback (580B) with case on ebay, and $150 for my heavily used Turbot (580T) with case, also on ebay-- both purchases were this year. Good luck! Scott |
