I was reading in your latest post about Elger and Gem guitars and I decided to email Medley musics Kyle Rosenblaum and ask him about his familys relationship with Hoshino and ibanez and here is his reply today.... Hi Brian, Elger guitars was actually started by my Grandfather as a custom shop in Ardmore. The name is a conglomerate of his daughter's name (Ellen) and his son's name (Gerson - my Dad). Later on, as a joint venture with Hoshino in Japan - who already built Ibanez Guitars - my Grandfather became a fifty percent share holder of Ibanez US. Several years later, he sold his share to Japan. The coolest piece of information is that my Father and I are now importing the next generation Elger Guitars from Japan, and the first batch will be here in about 1 month. These will only be of entry level quality, but for a collector, it may be of interest. Kyle |
