Did your sabre actually have a rotary switch? this was never used on a sabre to my knowledge. The 540S in the '89 catalog has a 5-way blade switch. Have you checked the ibanez web site? They do have wiring diagrams going back to '95 or so. Even though your guitar may have stacked humbuckers, I think the wiring was pretty consistent, and the standard sabre H-S-S format should work (without splitting the coils of the stacked PUs). You can order a replacement switch from your ibanez dealer, just go to the site and get the part number before ordering. -Sven |

Actually the body was so thin on the S that the first Prototype had the Preset system on it (The one on the PL1770 and PL2550. The first Japanese models had Mini Switches (540S) The only switch that fit in that body as a 5 way was the YM50, This was a very bad Korean switch that did not work well, But it was all that was availble until the VLX91 switch was designed. This is a no fun to Wire switch. Finally Korea started making the GAE switch, this will fit and also is not so bad a switch. I have the diagram if you still need it, Email me for it at. alnico51@netzero.net The funny thing is that the first S we made was so thin Japan could not make it because it was actually so sharp on the edges that they said the finish would chip off.
