Dylan, You should ask Hasy in the 50's and 60's topic, because he owned one a few years ago. He was sad about the fact that he didn't own it any more. I think it's VERY wanted. The buyer started www.blackeaglebass.com and seems to have sold it. http://www.blackeaglebass.com/for-sale.htm I checked in Russelw's database for 2609B and didn't find one. So you can figure out how difficult it is to find one... Ginger |

Hi Dylan It´s a strange thing about the value of any (Ibanez) guitar or bass. In case of the Black Eagle: I´ve seen auctions end at 1600+ US dollars and I´ve seen them sold for just about 450 too. I think both amounts are extremes and that a reasonable and accurate value for a Black Eagle bass in good and original condition will be around 600 to 700 US dollars. Kind greetz, Harry |

I found one a month ago. Kicks the living crap out of my 78 Fender Precision. I am restoring it right now. This bass is AWESOME !!!! If you don't buy it let me know. I might consider buying a second. |

Black Eagle in action. This is footage of Nirvana at JC Dobbs south street philly. I actuclly played here back in 1983 on a Friday and Saturday night. It was an awesome place to play with a great audience. Johns this where the Melody Maker was stolen from! http://www.philebrity.com/2007/02/14/noontime-nugg etz-nirvana-at-jc-dobbs-71289/ |

No but I contacted someone that used to photograph all of the gigs there during the period I played. I am trying to track down pics and film footage. They had a video camera(probably 16mm) hanging from the stage at Dobbs and filmed most of the acts there. I also dated a girl at that period that was in photography school at the time I bought it from the store in Levittown where you traded it. She took numerous slides, black and whites and color shots of me playing it before and after I refinished it and added the neck pup.I just need to get in touch with her. I'm sure she still has most of the pics and negs. |

To revive this topic; here is a link to a black eagle bass on Ebay in Oz at the moment. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Ibanez-Commador-bass-guitar _W0QQitemZ280133542879QQihZ018QQcategoryZ38080QQss PageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I've been in contact with the seller and unfortunately he doesn't have the broken piece of headstock. I guess that makes it difficult to do any cosmetic work on. Also, seller said that he had to drill extra holes for the fender bridge. Pick-ups are fender too! On the up-side, the eagle scratch plate looks to be in good condition. Sweep |
