I own an Ibanez Sound Gear 1000 serial number F737960

This bass is one of the best ones I have played I have owned it for about 11 years. I just started playing again so I pulled it out of storage after about4 years.

At some point I lost 2 of the saddle screws on the bridge. I have looked every ware for these screws with no luck, the local music store local hardware stores even the big name ones like Home Depot. They are a 3 mm pan head screw about 3 inches long. I can not set my intonation without them and it’s off so much it’s depressing to play…

I went to the Ibanez web site but they only go back to 2000 I believe from what I have read this modal bass won only made in 1991 and there isn’t much on it on the web.

I was thinking about picking up a bridge on e-bay but I can’t be sure the screws wioll be the same and I’m not looking to replace the bridge on the bass.

Any suggestions would be helpful..

Hi those screws fall out quite easily because the brigde is a locking unit..in other words the itonation is set and locked down by the screws in the bridge saddles themselves..so u can still set the intonation ..lock it and the bridge wont move.......the screws that youve lost dont actually do much......when i first saw these basses in shops in the late 80s hanging verticaly on walls ..some of them u could see the screws hanging out ..ready to fall out...check to see they are not sitting in the bottom of the case you have had it stored in..they need tightening reguraly...one other thing.....when u set the intonation using the screws in the bridge with the supplied allen keys.....dont over tighten..otherwise it could break the bridge base plate...its very thin die cast..which happended to me in 1995..lukily enough i was able to get a replacement thru the local Ibanez distributor here in australia Australis... i dont fancy yr chances these days 10 yrs on...be careful..in fact id take it to a local reparman to get it adjusted just in case..

ps the sr1000 was in production from 1988 to 91..later models had the Ibanez BIV bridge..the model you have is the omni-adjust all access bridge..it was also made by gotoh..used on some Bass collection basses made in Japan at the time as well..i own a 1988 SR800 with the same brige..

apparently, i stand corrected. when i owned my sr1000, i emailed ibanez tech support looking for info about it (cuz i couldnt find anything on my own), and they were the ones that informed me that 1991 was the only production yr for that model.
