I just picked up a Roadstar II Series, Serial number J833841, at a garage sale this weekend from the original owner. Single pickup, two knobs, one switch. I know nothing about Ibanez basses but I was told by a local guitar shop that the instrument was made during Ibanez's "golden age" - whatever that means. I'm looking for general or specific information about the bass so please, share whatever thoughts you have. Would especially love to hear from someone who owns one of these. I'll try to post pics once i get some. Of course, all questions are welcome. Thanks. PS - I'm not too concerned about the value of the instrument, though if anyone has any thoughts on that I love to hear them. |

Newkid: Welcome! The serial number indicates that the bass was made in Oct. of 1983 and that's all that can be deciphered from it. Take a look at this online catalog for '83/'84 basses and see if your bass is shown: http://www.ibanezrules.com/catalogs/us/1983_84/index.htm Let us know if you see a model that looks familiar. Hope this helps. |

Wow, thanks Johns! Great link! Looks like I've got an RB820 in the silver smoke finish. Now all I need to do is find out where to get a replacement "Sure Grip II Control Knob". Any suggestions? Does anyone out there know anything about this bass beyond what's in the catalog? |
