Hi,
I thought I knew my bass but now im not sure.
It looks like SR800BK. Its a soundgear, its black, it has the 1990/1991 style bridge, features regulated lo-z pups and a 2 band EQ. I thought it was 90-91 or so but the serial starts "F7####". Now I can't seem to fins 1987 SDGR's.
Who can tell me more? |

Hi i have a SR800 bass which has a F7 number..i bought in august 1988 and i first saw them in the shops here in oz in May of that year..so it was probably made in 1987..which is the year that Ibanez say they first introduced the SDGR bass...mine has the Omni-adjust all acees locking bridge...i think by 1990-91 Ibanez had introduced the BIV bridge..with the plate underneath to raide the saddles..

The bridge could have been std till90-91 I guess. The accucast bridge which i have on my 900mol was introduced i think somewhere in 93-94.
So it is possible to have 87 sr800 with active eq.

They certainly did have active electronics...a clue to that is the full model number for the SR800 bass...SR800LE ..''Low impedance'' mis spelt as ''Empedance'' in other words LO-Z acitve pickups run from from the battery..as far as i know the ''Regulated LO-Z'' refers to the pick-ups being High-Z passive coils with the chip in the pick-ups converting the signal to Lo-Z for the the on board YE-262 active pre-amp with the bass and treble boost and cut...bit technical i know..
