I hope someone can help or at least point me in the right direction!
A number of years (about 9 or 10) ago I ordered an Ibanez semi-acoustic bass that had to be ordered from Japan. Unfortunately after about three months of misunderstandings, and maybe my dealer not doing what he said he had, it became clear that the model I had ordered would not be available.
Ibanez UK were very understanding about this and offered me a model that had been in their warehouse for a number of years. Aparently it was made as a special for a number of trade shows, but since it was due to be expensive - they made the decision never to put this model in to production. I bought the guitar, but had to buy a Washburn case, as no case had ever been made for it.
The model that I have is an AB200, deep cherry red with ivory coloured inlay on the body. All the pickups, bridge assembly and machine heads are gold-plated and the Ibanez logo on the head is inlaid mother-of pearl - there is no serial number, so I am a bit stuck as to where to try next.
I would like to know whether this is a pre-production model, or just that Ibanez told me a good story to keep me happy at the time!! I will be able to provide photos if it will help |
