I have a Ibanez Bass I bought in 1979. It is a model 2353 serial number begining with B772xxx. Black body, white pick guard. Can anyone help me understand what I have? When I bought it, I was told it was a telecaster copy but I have come to understand that Ibanez stopped making copies after the '76 lawsuit. |

You bought it in 1979, but it must have been sitting in the store a couple years or you bought it used because it seems to be a 1977 model from looking at the serial number. More details about reading serial numbers can be found through a site search. Scott |

Thanks, it was a long time ago but I do vaguely recall it being a demo model. |

It is very close, the finger rest on my Bass is above the pickup, not below it. |
