Is this a 2334 or a 2375 strat copy?

Author Message Musash (Musash) Posted on Friday, July 12, 2002 - 11:44 am:    I bought my first Ibanez Strat copy. I am tryin to find out if it is a 2334 or a 2375. It has a maple neck, a 3-selector switch (if original?) and no serial number. The seller bought it in the mid-seventies, already used, so it must be from 1973, 1974 or 1975. I think it is a 2334 model because comparing pictures at Jim Donahues site, I noticed the difference in the placement of the word 'Ibanez' on the headstock! Am I right? Your Strat is a 2375 from around 1973-early 1975. By the picture of the headstock you can tell that there must have been a white plastic cover for the trussrod. There are also 2 string retainers, so it's 1973-mid 1975. The placement of the Ibanez logo can somewhat differ from badge to badge. The 3-way selector switch is original: this changed into a 5-position switch around end 1975/ 1976. You're lucky enough to have this one original, because there were so many guitarists who changed this part (for understandable reasons, I must admit), but hey, you all know I'm a purist, so I prefer the original 3-way switches. If you ever plan on changing this item, please let me know; I'd be interested in the original 3-way. I have a pre-serial sunburst just like yours which has a 5-way replacement. Sorry, won't trade the switch, on this one I am a purist also :-). I keep wondering about the 2334. How were they different from the 2375? Which one came first? I only know 1 picture, from Jim Donahue's site. I cannot find any more information about them. Have you ever seen a 2334 yourself? The next one is a typical case of another butchered Ibanez. Itīs a heavily customised model 2368 and I can judge the original (since I own one), but I wouldnīt dare to comment on the quality of this one. I think it may be a good player, but for a collector like me this guitar has no value at all. You could probably get one new from ibanez. Flatbag Username: Flatbag Registered: 09-2004 Posted on Friday, November 17, 2006 - 7:14 pm:    MK, from appearance I wouldn't think too much of the 2375 as a player, the picture shows that the black part of the burst extends over the contour (undoubtedly hiding the mutilayered plywood body). Just my experience, but every multilayed plywood body has lacked resonance in a big way. Harry, I have a Profile Strat (Profile was MIJ exclusive to Australia in early 80s), which has a 3 way switch, but the switch isn't interchangeable with replacement 5 ways, as the mounting holes on the 3 way are too close together, thus requiring a matching pickguard (3 way switch mounting screws are 33mm apart, 5 way switches are 43mm). Is this the case with Ibanez too?
