Got a carved strat!!!!

I'm extremely happy to tell you that I was offered this guitar by a guy in Canada. He mailed me about this one. If maybe I knew what it was? Of course I knew. I told him all the details I knew about this rare beauty and I asked him if he wanted to sell. And he did. I got this baby for $880 US. The Canedian guy was happy too to make a good deal, because he bought it from another guy for $ 425, It's in great condition, fully original and almost the holy grail for Ibanez collectors. This is the model number 2408-2, the one with the botanical carvings. The other two models, the 2408-1 and the 2408-3 had a carved dragon and a carved eagle. What a ultimate collector's dream it would be to have all three in your collection...... but what am I fuzzing about? I'm the happiest man at this moment, for being the proud owner of this one!!! Is it heavy? six Orval (Orval) Posted on Sunday, February 29, 2004 - 9:14 pm:    several years ago, i came across a dragon, but passed on it because i wasnt sure it was authentic(didnt have the catalog at the time to know). i was able to find the eagle a couple years ago, but had never seen the cornucopia. now we know for sure, that they all exist. in very limited supply, i might add. So I'll have to make 'em a bit smaller, but at this time I'm having a severe computer crash (thanx to all those loosers who get a kick out of spreading viruses). As soon as everything is in working order again I'll try to upload more. By the way: I said it was all original, but later on I noticed that the 5-way switch is a replacement. You can see it in the picture: the original switch was a little smaller so for the replacement switch a new hole had to be drilled, just next to the original one. Whatever...just a small detail and this could never have been the reason for not buying it.... At that moment you could not answer my request because you were very busy at that time. How's the situation nowadays? Is it possible for you to send me a good scan for in my archives or a high-grade jpeg-file? John M Harry (Harry) Posted on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 10:45 am:    Hi John The body is a 2-layer one and each layer excists of 2 pieces: the piece of wood was just too small, so they had to glue an additional 4 inches. The guitar is pretty heavy: it's made of solid ash that has been coloured. It now looks pretty much like Oak. Just like the furniture in the seventies. The acoustic sound was already amazing. It has a very nice, clean and clear "ring" and pretty much sustain. Plugged in it's very,very nice sounding (plenty of "twang", mainly in the 2nd and 4th position of the 5-way switch), and enough rough crunchy edges on the bridge pickup. It's really a very nice and ultra-rare addition to my collection. Does it say Ibanez at the head ?? How about the idea of having the CA, The black Eagle bass and the carved strat ? That'll be the day right ?? /Steph. I know that these same guitars came out with "Aria" on the headstock. A friend of mine told me he saw an Aria carved dragon Strat on a flea market, for about a year ago. It was offered for sale for 50 dollar. He let it pass, because he found the guitar "sooooo ugly!!!"......... Can you imagine?
